I assume you mean it has no power? This is fairly common with the NEC VT460,VT470,VT595. The power board/Power Supply has failed. I can usually repair or replace the power supply for $170
If you're familiar with electronics you can try checking the main power fuse by removing all the screws on the bottom of the projector & taking the cover off. The fuse is located just next to the ac plug. Test it using a continuity tester with long testing probes. If it's ok then the power board is bad & needs repair.
If it's bad replace with the same type fuse. You can bring the fuse to Radio Shack for identification or look on the power board next to the fuse holder for fuse amperage.
If you would like a repair please contact me at [email protected]
Thanks & good luck,
Jim
My VT440 says this when it gets to it's pre-defined service life. (a certain amount of hours)
As long as you pop the filters out regularly and clean them (I use a vacuum cleaner) you shouldn't need to replace them.
After that, go into the projector options (with the remote control) and reset the factory defaults... otherwise it has no idea that you have actually changed the darn thing and keeps complaining no matter what! =-]
It does in fact appear to be a thermistor and the TH1 board marking seems to confirm that.
What markings are on the component (it appears to be a power transistor of some kind) adjacent to it?
If we can find a standard part number for it and you own some kind of meter, perhaps we can either eliminate or identify it as the original culprit.
The failed thermistor is either acting as a temperature sensitive clamp to prevent lamp failure or regulates lamp intensity dependent on temperature.
Maybe an email to NEC would get you the value of it (TH1) since I suspect a schematic or parts list will be hard to acquire.

Pls Service the LCD Panels of the Projector, Also check the Fly-Eye lens, just next to Lamp unit. This will solve your problem. if it's not then the only solution is Replacement of LCD Panels, But Must check or replace the external RGB Cable first befor doing all this exercise.
hi
1) Check that the power cable is plugged in and that the power button on the projector cabinet or the remote control is on. See pages E-16 and 17 in the manual
http://www.fixya.com/user-guide/p155892,m5221,gm34/NEC-VT460-Multimedia-Projector.aspx
2) Ensure that the lamp cover or lamp housing is installed correctly. See page E-30.
3) Check to see if the projector has overheated or the lamp has reached the end of its usable life. If there is insufficient ventilation around the projector or if the room where you?re presenting is particularly warm, move the projector to a cooler location
4) You have pressed control panel key when Control Key Lock is enabled
good luck
