My KTM3900WB fridge/freezer is not freezing and cooling in the fridge. The light goes and can hear the motor is running.

You are either low on freon refrigerant, or your compressor is frozen (usually due to low freon) or your compressor is bad. the motor will cycle on and off even though the compressor is not working. the refrigerator away from the wall and look compressor will be a nerf football sizedand usually black cylinder. It could be very hot or cold/frozen. can also unplug the refrigerator leave it for a few hours and plug it back in if it work you are low on freon. You need a repairman

Fridge is freezing food fan seems to be running all the time

sounds like you may have a stuck freezer control.try bumping that knob with the back of your fist,if it stops, that is it.if not it still may be the problem.let cool down in freezer for 10 min. open freezer door and turn knob back to off very slow,if it kicks off just at off ,control most likley bad.

Freezer not freezing.just put new thermastat in it

fridges and freezers work on the following principal: the freezer area is cooled and the cold air is circulated and shared with the fridge area.
So the keys to a good working unit are first to set the freezer so that it is at the desired temperature, then adjust the fridge control to get the desired fridge temperature
air flow is the only thing that the fridge thermostat controls, so keep the clutter in the fridge to a minimum
also dirt and hair dust etc build up on most appliances that have a fan so clean the areas around the back and bottom of the unit
remember any time you work on an electrical appliance unplug it first
lastly fridges with frost free designs need to have a clear drain from under the freezer all the way down to the bottom where the compressor motor is make sure this is also kept clean
if this fails to solve your problem then likely there is a leak in the system or compressor problem, but if this is the case your freezer will not work correctly either
remember the only cooling is done at the freezer znd cold air is sent through the fridge
lastly obviously the fridge and freezer are highly insulated and sealed and these are both important

My 18 year old refrigerator GE model TFX24FG freezer side is not keeping food frozen. Refrigerator side seems to be working normally.

The refrigerator side is at present working properly , but slowly slowly, it will also loose its cooling. This will happen because, freezer side is the side which cools first, then the refrigerator side ( also called as fridge side)., gets cooled. If freezer side is not cooling / freezing properly then fridge side will also loose its cooling ability.------------ And later on both section will loose its cooling.----------- As per the present situation, it indicates problem with compressor or problem with freezer side door not closing properly.---------- Or the temperature in freezer section is not set to proper cooling/ freezing.--------- So first inspect temperature, is it set right? If ok, then check the freezer door , is it properly closed? If ok, then its compressor problem.? The compressor is running non stop, this is indication of compressor problem.---------- Click this link below for more help:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/06/both-refrigerator-and-freezer-not.html ----------- Later on both section will loose its cooling. -------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Iceream is not freezing

The temperature is not set to high cooling.First check the temperature setting. But if temperature is set right and still the ice cream is not cooling then .Problem relates to weak compressor. ------------- The problem is weak compressor. The refrigerant ( R12) in the compressor is got low.The compressor is weak. The compressor needs to be replaced.-------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.------------ But as you mentioned that ice cream is not freezing, so that means freezer is not freezing to its required temperature.------- This indicates problem with compressor. When compressor cools the freezer section then fridge section gets cold.If freezer section is not getting properly cold then fridge section will not cool properly/.So the problem relates to compressor.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Compressor will not kick on even though lights and display work. Refrigerator was just delivered yesterday and it will not kick on to cool off or freeze.

It sound like the fridge is in demo mode. Try holding the top left 2 buttons until it chimes, then see if the compressor comes on. If it seems like your particular model is not the one I described, look in the manual or on the samsung website for a way to put it in and out of demo mode.

Please help mdl # BX21VL s/n 9910131900 freezer works fine refidgerator does not. no cold air blowing out of vent

If you have an error code showing or flashing then try is Powering off the FF at the AC mains supply and leaving it standing for 30 minutes. Make sure that you do not open any of the doors or touch any of the controls during this time. Then reconnect the power and wait for 30 to 60 minutes to see if the fault remains or is cured.

Try completely defrosting the FF as despite common belief these units are not totally frost free.

If the Freezer and the Fridge are not cooling enough then check that the condenser is not iced up and that the fan is running correctly. These are located behind a panel in the lower half of the freezer at the rear and can be accessed from inside the freezer compartment.

In modern uprights if the freezer part is working OK and the fridge is not working correctly it means that the air vent from the freezing unit to the fridge compartment has stuck in the closed or partially closed position which causes the fridge to not be any where near as cool as it should be. If it is too cold then the vent is stuck in the open position and the fridge temperature will continue to fall and become the same as the freezer, thereby freezing the contents of the fridge compartment. It can also get stuck in another position so that if the temperature is adjusted on the front panel then nothing happens to the temperature in the fridge compartment. The vent is controlled by a small sync motor and either the motor has become faulty, the control module is faulty or the vent is iced up. It can be come iced up by putting too many hot items in the fridge so the steam condenses and freezes the vent in position and then the motor cannot open or close it causing it and / or the control module to become faulty. Other times it is just old age that causes the motor and / or the control module to fail. If the sync motor and vent are working Ok then there may be a fault with the fridge temperature sensor or main on board controller that will mean that the sensor or the controller will need replacing.

In stand alone fridges the answer could also be that the cooling panel at the rear is dirty and needs thoroughly dusting / cleaning / unblocking and checking that there is enough space around it to cool properly and that it is not near any heat sources such as an oven, air vent, microwave exhaust, etc.. It could also be caused by a problem that has resulted in a loss of the refrigerant gas and will need regassing by a service engineer. Also check that the thermostat is working correctly, turn it up and the fridge compressor motor should kick in, turn it down and the motor should turn off. Also make sure that the fridge is not iced up, or overloaded, so cool air cannot circulate inside it. Best call a service engineer asap.

Fridge side won't regulate temp. however the freezer will freeze to -9 and stay right there! How do you test the thermostat? or is this a common problem. The fridge was built in 01' and nothing has been...

the thermostat is either off or on, and it controls the fridge temperature the freezer is just a by product of the remaining gas from the fridge usually -20/30 degrees lower than the fridge, two problems would cause this leaked gas would reduce the cooling capacity of the freezer but the fridge should stay ok although the compressor would be constantly on trying to keep temperature. the thermostat can fail after time not being able to keep a regular temp and not switching the compressor on enough to cool the system. unless you have a frost free where is usually a relay that controls the compressor witch have a life time rating of so many operations.

Candy CPCA250 GB Freezer feezing but fridge not cold

Hello jonnyclewlow
Welcome,

You said, you recently had a problem with my Candy fridge freezer (it defrosted overnight and wasnt cooling at all) and a repair shop diagnosed a thermostat problem. I have replaced the thermostat, Now the freezer freezes without any problems but the fridge does not go cold at all.
Also the compressor is running constantly

This is my first thought

Fresh Food temperature is
too warm. Freezer
temperature is satisfactory.

1. Fresh Food control is set too
warm.
2. Set fresh food control to a colder setting. Allow 24
hours for temperature to stabilize.

3.Then see if you do not have your freezer articles packed full up to the top, or covering the cold air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer compartment.

The fridge and the freezer share the cold air so the air must not be restricted from travel form the freezer to the fridge and back!
This would also cause the compressor to run none stop trying to cool the fridge!
So check your air vents in the freezer.
I'll bet you did not know they were there !
Most of us never notice!
Hope this works for you.
Please let me know that one of these solutions worked for you!
or if you have any questions.
Thank You, huuum
Please remember to leave a rating!

Frigidaire Gallery Side by Side - Fridge not cooling

Locate the defrost timer and rotate the dial a small amount clockwise. If the compressor starts the timer should be replaced. If the compressor does not start check the temperature control. It may be bad, if it is bad try jumpering the thermostat wires. If it starts and runs the thermostat is bad. Replace the thermostat.
