Lost audio for no apparent reason

When I was waching TV using Denon AVR-2808 the sound went off.
Decided to to check if the TV was in mute mode. still no sound.
After that i restarted the AVR, now there is no sound or video.
The only way i can have sound is trough direct stereo or pure direct.
Still no video.

    Hi,
    My Connections:
    AVR -> TV : compsit
    Setup-box -> AVR : video/Audio RCA
    DVD audio -> AVR: HDMI
    DVD video -> AVR: Composit
    PC audio -> AVR: Audio RCA
    PC Video -> AVR: SVideo

    I don't have video for any of those. And audio only in direct stereo or pure direct.
    My PC is also connected directly to a monitor video, from that direct connection the image is normal.

    the strange fact is that everything was normal and suddenly this happened. I heard no strange sound or burn smell in the AVR-2808.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    It looks hopeless,
    I Can connect the the individual devices directly to the tv (except HDMI witch TV does not support).
    I have unplugged all input cables and connected only one Video RCA. nothing.
    Sound: even the radio can only play pure direct. If i try to select dolby or 7.1 silence. All the visible fuses look ok.
    :-(

    Hi,

    Out of the blue and after 15 days in pure direct, as sudden as the DSP stopped working it started working again. Thank you all.

    Out of the blue, we lost video output.  We have an HD TV, but it is not HDMI. Help!  My husband is going crazy. He has tried everything in the manual.

    What connections are you using? Component, HDMI, Svideo? If using HDMI have you tried plugging it directly into the TV bypassing the receiver? This will tell you if it is your receiver or you HDMI device.

Try unplugging your HDMI cable from the AVR I would like to see if your AVR is trying to use HDMI out instead of the composite. Next try plugging each device directly into your television, this will isolate the issue and tell us for sure whether or not it's the AVR.

    Yes here's hoping you're still under warranty. If not there are some pretty knowledgeable people with schematics over at AVSFORUM

    Good Luck.

Change the hdmi cable and try. If not then you have an hdmi fault module.

Denon AVR-1908 speaker issue

Before we play taps and throw dirt on top of the Denon, perhaps a bit more triage is in order. I'm not certain who the patient is. Especially when you have "speaker issue" in the title. Are you saying there are some speakers that don't work ONLY with BluRay?

If it has NEVER worked the (unnamed) BD player or its cable(s) could be at fault, too.

What 'connections' are we talking about. HDMI, coaxial- or optical audio, 5.1 analog; to what input on the Denon assigned to what function?

Have you tried all audio paths out of the BD player? Is it configured to squawk in the right digital mode?

Do you have any other digital audio sources (CD/DVD) you could use to certify the audio paths that don't work with the BD player?

Sound went out today. Mute is not on, and all

Does it think you have headphones connected? If you have headphones, check to see if they have sound output.

Can't get the sound to work on my TV using the Denon AVR-2807

In the 2807 the HDMI out is a video out only. Audio is not processed through the HDMI output.
If you are using speakers it is best to adjust the playback modes to stereo if you are annoyed with surround sound modes.
Please comment if I helped.

No sound when on internet radio, playtime is running, volume is not muted, internet ok

It was solved by turning the receiver off with the power button (not stand-by). After turning on the netradio did have its sound back. Apparantly it must be running some sort of Windows os.

No sound other than from direct stereo or pure direct. Denon AVR 2808

You can try this reset precedure below, but it sounds like you may have a DSP board problem. This is a new model of Denon, it should still be under Denon's warranrty, it has a 2 year warranty. If this does not help, you need to take it in to be serviced. If it is not under warranty, you will not like the cost of the repair. A new DSP board usualy cost about $300 and then you must pay for the labor. It is not cheap. This reset procedure has been know to work some minor miracles, lets hope it works one for you.

1. Switch off the unit.
2. Hold the following STANDARD button and DSP SIMULATION
button, and switch on the unit.
3. Check that the entire display is flashing with an interval of
about 1 second, and release your fingers from the 2 buttons
and the microprocessor will be initialized.
Note:If step 3 does not work, start over from step 1.
 All user settings will be lost and this factory setting
will be recovered when this initialization mode.
So make sure to memorize your setting for restoring
after the initialization.
