Question about SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player

1 Answer

Refresh database My player is a couple of weeks old suddenly it flashed the message refresh data base and a bar that looks lke it could be fillled in is empty. I have tried all the trouble shooting recommended. When I plug it into my computer the screen shows connected on the player, however not in my computer music program. the the player screen flashes to "writing" then back to the sansa logo in a continous circle. I am using windows media player and with the player screen displayed and the synch tab highlighted the bar on the right side has the information "connect a device" HELP!!!

I get 'refresh database' solid, nothing else happens. When plugged in, Sansa says 'Writing' but freezes after about a minute. The reset function using the hold switch doesn't work. Suggesting doing anything from within the player goes nowhere...nothing is accessible when 'refresh database' shows up.
    Any other suggestions?
Pushing the hold switch up for 15 seconds is supposed to reset the clip, but I've not gotten that to work.

It's supposed to refresh database anytime you make changes to your clip. also, check in the settings what usb mode you're in as well as "my computer" to see if the device shows up when it's plugged in. as for transfering media, if you want to use a program to do it for you, use mtp (under settings on your clip). if you want to manually drag and drop, put it in msc (also in settings). also in msc, it doesn't really matter where you decide to drop the files onto the player, although there should already be a music folder to help keep things organized.

Refresh database error

Used the Firmware Updater to get the latest firmware and this updated my Sansa E260 player which was in Recovery mode. The player then completed the refresh database process. No data was lost. The player is now functiining correctly.]

Thanks

Refreshing data base

It refreshes the database to build the menu for you to navigate.

Your device may have corrupt data in it and therefore takes longer than normal to build the library.

You can format the device to remove everything, and then re-transfer them to see if that helps.

To format in My Computer>Device Name (e250)>right Click and select format.

Best of Luck.

Refresh database fail

ALL DATA WILL BE LOST WITH THIS PROCEDURE!! You can try a ROM recovery. - TURN OFF UNIT - Place hold switch so orange shows - Hold down the REC button with the red dot on the side of the player. - Whilst holding the REC button, press the power button as if to turn on the unit - Let go of the REC button You should see the recovery console. YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA!! However you will also have a working player. Hope this helps.

Screen remains on Refresh Database everytime I turn it on.

I've run into this also. a few options.. 1) Use the Sansa Updater software to upgrade firmware. (available on Sandisk website) 2) Sometimes adding a couple new songs back wakes it up.
