Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Vulcan/ILEC ducted central heating system. The controller is hard wired. After about 1-2 hours the system switches itself off and the controller is indicating "Reset" which we do and it works again for about 1-2 hours when we have to Reset again. Any ideas how to fix this?

There is probably a sensor in the duct somewhere that is either fault or maybe quite dusty. be careful though it may have mains voltage at the terminals

Obviously a direct short. Take pic, remove all wires, replace fuse. Wire by wire, turning power back on each time until fuse pops. When it does, there's your problem.

No it cant really be fitted as the evap system uses much larger duct and also in some cases people use a different type of duct that when running a gas heater threw it it tends to melt with the heat. Your best option would be to get new ducting that way you can size it correctly so you dont have air alance issues down the track.

hi,
The heating coil itself have some problem that's why the circuit breaker clicks off by sensing over current drop. Check the heating coil and replace it.

Vulcan Ilec central heater main burners turn off after few second

Flame rollout sensors, overheat thermistor, air proving switch, bad earthing, blocked flue. Any of these things can cause your problem. If its a permanent pilot, is it clean burning?? If electronic ignition, is the flame rod clean i.e. no carbon or rust etc.. Safest bet is a qualified gasfitter take a look at it.

The control panel gets its power from the central heating unit's power point. Try turning the power off outside at the powerpoint next to the ducted heating unit and try turning it on again after a few seconds, see if it resets

How many wires for the thermostat do you have? If you tell me I can help. The green flashing, instead of red, in my experience, means a thermostat problem.
