Black and decker mm875 mulching mower stopped working after 4 uses

Our MM875 died after about 4 years. Changed the switch and it worked again for about four months. Changed the switch again and it worked for about a minute. There has to be something else that is either shorting or presenting to much of a load for these switches to keep failing.

Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance.

Get a diagram of the lawnmower from Black & Decker website. Take the cover off of the lawnmower and vacuum out in the dirt that is inside of it. Take part number 54 off of the Armature casing. Before you do this, make sure you know how to put number 69, 67 and 68 act together. Moreover you will need to make notes on number 60, 59, 66, and 4. Take the blade off of the lawnmower. You should now be able to have the assembly including numbers 55, 71, and 56. If you want to take number 71 from number 55, you can do this. I find that if I just take those three parts without taking them apart, then I can turn it upside down and with a vacuum cleaner vacuum out dirt from the top of number 55 and to use air to blow the dirt out the backside. And then I turn it upside down and vacuum it from the top again. On number 71, you will find some little copper plates at the top of number 71. They should be a bright copper color. If not, I take sandpaper and remove the carbon that has accumulated there. You may need to replace number 68, which is on opposite sides of number 54. A friend of mine showed me a website called www.ereplacementparts.com. They didn't sell the different parts; but you could get a complete number 54 with all of its components. If you have had the lawnmower for a long time. It would be well to purchase that. Oh, before you start taking 54 apart, I would take a picture of the wiring at the top of it and saved to a file Black & Decker MM875. This way you can print it out and be able to know exactly where the wires are supposed to be. I often find that it is easier to take a picture of something, whether then try to draw it. Of course, this is just personal advice. I will not take responsibility for any mistake made by using my advice. Don't you just hate having to say that others say some stupid label on something telling you not to do something that common sense should tell you what should be done and not done.

Switch diagram needed

Funny, I came here because I just opened up the switch case on my MM875. Hold the switch so the terminals are on top. Call the black switch (the part you push in to power up the mower) north. The north post gets white (metal connector). The west post gets red (plastic connector). The east post gets the black that comes from the mower's motor (plastic connector). The south post gets the black that comes from the outlet (metal connector)
(Black Plastic Switch)
White (Metal)
Red (Plastic) Black (Plastic--from motor))
Black (Metal--from outlet)

I have a black & decker lawnhog mm875 lawn mower that just stopped working. the power to the mower is good. can you help

I had the same problem. Its the switch.

When you pull the plastic handle up, it pushes down a button switch located in the handle. Over time (and with use) the parts begin to wear and the handle is no longer aligned properly with the button. So, ........ when you pull the handke up the button is not pushed in far enough to start the mower.

I want to bypass the handle and hard wire the mower but I can't find a wiring diagram.
