DSL setup basics:
1: Check to make sure the line you connect your modem to is the same line that is registered to the DSL account.
2: Plug phone cable into modem.
3: Plug the RJ45 cable into the modem and into your computer.
4: Power up the modem and your PC.
Next Steps Varies Depending on ISP
5: Log into your DSL modem from your computer by using 192.168.1.1 (typically, may be different)
6: Set your PPPoE settings.
Also you can skip step 5 and 6 if you install the software they sent you to connect your system. Most people find this software completely useless and typically do not install it though.
Also you can call your ISP and they will walk you through every step to get you connected to them, that is their job.
