Yellow blinking light on Toshiba 65HM167

HI, Before going on vacation, I unplugged the set for a week. When trying to power it up, all I get is the lamp light (yellow) blinking 3 times every 10 seconds or so. The Toshiba rep said the lamp is fine but could not tell me the cause or cure. This happened once befoer and a different rep gave me a way to trick the unit into rebooting. Any help is greatly appreciated. The units is a 65HM167, and is one month out of warranty.

I am having the exact problem!! We bought ours in August 2007 from cc and I cannot get this fixed. We have until the 31st of this month for our warranty...It happened once before and I tried to hold the power button on the right side of the TV and it reset. This time when I do it I hear it click like it is trying but then it just goes back to blinking 3 times. i have reset the breaker box, unplugged the TV reset the surge protector...nothing is working. I have checked the manual time and time again but on page 62 the LED indications are useless because it tells you it is "Standby with Power-On Mode fast"...then to go to page 35. The problem is page 35 tells you what to do if you had a picture...I can't even get sound or the TV to turn on at all......If you get a solution before we can finally get a service rep out here please post...if I do I will let you know.....Best of luck!!

Yankees, If I were you I would get your unit fixed while still under warranty. According to Toshiba, an authorized service company will come to your house to either fix it or take it with them to their shop, saving you the hassle. Also, make sure they create a file for you so there is a record of the issue. I ended up faxing them a copy of my resipt along with a desperate plea for help in the cost. By the way, I also tried holding the power button down and now that you mention it, that was how it reset before. This time, I too hear the "click". Anyway, good luck and I'll let you know what I hear.

The power company turned off power to our block and now I get 3 blinking yellow lights about every 10 secounds. Have tried unplugging and holding down power button on set. There must be a way to reset. My warranty ran out 3 weeks ago - of course! Service guy wants $1400 for new board - without even looking at it. Someone must know what the 3 blinking lights mean.

Count me in for the same problem: 3 yellow blinks, pause, 3 blinks, etc.

Repairman said it was the ballast. Seems like they have a racket going where you have to buy the whole light assembly for over a 1/2 the price of the tv instead of the simple $100 part! (We are 3 months past the year warranty). We're at the stage of trying to decide if it's worth fixing and having no warranties or starting over with a new set and buying the extended warranty this time! After looking at Tvs today, and wanting another 65", I didn't see any that compared to ours (when it was working!) for the price. I'd be interested in hearing and suggestions.

We are just out of our warranty as well. Our lamp initially exploded randomly. We got a new lamp and it only worked when it wanted too, most of the time, it takes minutes to boot it up. A few times we couldn't get it at all, a few other times it blinks like that up to 20 times, we just keep trying to hold down the power, etc. Right now we are in the process of returning our "defective" lamp for a new one but I don't think that is the problem.

I fixed mine with the same exact issue! Thanks to the folks at avsforums. Get a 4gb or smaller SD card, download the firmware from the toshiba support website, place it on the card. Unplug tv, put card in tv in the service port, plug in the tv! 3 yellow lights should turn to a blue solid light, unplug the tv again, remove the sd card. Plug it back in and enjoy!

I just kept on trying to hit the on botton on the remote, then at some point after about 10 mins I just pushed and hold down on the on button and it magically turned on. Dunno if this will work for anyone else but its worth a try.

Guest...you are not going to have any luck! If you can believe this our TV is STILL broken. And it has been since July 7th!!!! I have been fighting with Toshiba I have reported them to bbb and also to the federal trade commission. I have faxed the work order from the first time someone came out to look at it, a copy of my cell phone bill to prove the first time I called was really way back in July!! It is a main board in the tv and they keep telling me it is on "extensive backorder" Finally they offered us 3 options...a refurbished 65in, a brand new 52in LCD or a full refund in 6 weeks!! I will NEVER buy a Toshiba anything again. I suggest you call this number 1 800 351 5481. When someone picks up tell them you need to talk to Toshiba in regards to a TV, they will transfer you directly to them. The sooner you start a file with them the better because as you can see when I posted this and yes it is still broken. I have also faxed copies of everything we have been dealing with to the offices of Phillip Schoonover who is the CEO of circuit city where we bought the TV and also Atsutoshi Nishida the CEO of Toshiba. You should just ask to talk to Evette....she is the customer service supervisor who I have been dealing with. If there is anything else I can help you with please let me know....trust me I have ALL the information you will need.

Yellowlight blinks 3 times on my toshiba 62hm116

If you are refering to the 3 yellow blinks repeated over and over the
boot data is corrupted. Download the firmware update(link below)from Toshiba and unzip the files and folders, copy the unzipped files & folders to a SD card (like a camera uses,I used a 2 gig). Unplug the tv and insert the card into the slot hidden behind the cover above the HDMI inputs. Plug in the tv and watch the yellow blinking stop and a solid blue will light when done. Unplug the tv, remove the card, plug in the tv and all will be good. You could now install the update per it's instructions.

Yellow blinking light after power went down

Unplug the unit for 15 minutes then plug it back. This will allow the microprocessor to be reset. Upon plugging it back, press and hold the power button on the remote.

Blinking yellow light ,no picture or sound.

You have done all you can do. If you had a power outage, when the power came back on a it surged and probably caused a Power Supply problem or something in the micro controller to fail. Either way it 's not good. I would call Toshiba and let them guide you to a Service Facility that can check it out. Depending on your Homeowners Insurance, repairs could be coverd or unit be replaced depending on cost to repair.
Sorry I am not able to help further,

Cant find a ballast

The ballast is actually a switch mode power supply that powers the lamp. It is an
integral part of the light engine and is not replaceable. The light engine has a price
tag of $950. If you replaced the lamp with an after market one and not the Toshiba
lamp you can experience the same problem. Some of the after market lamps will
not fire at the same voltage as the Toshiba. The blue led will come on solid and the
yellow blinking. It will try to start 8 times then give up.
