I have a Sony that my daughter was watching when she turned it off and a little later went to turn it back on and no picture just sound for a few seconds. Then the set just acted like it shut off. Red light flashing on front ( 10 ) time in a cycle. It was ( 5 ) and after I unplugged and waited 30 min. to plug back in now ten. Model WDP57WS550. Can some one give me and idea.

Sony rear proj tv, no picture, menu appears, but in three seperated colors pin cushioned.

Best to first if you have not done so---UNPLUG the set for several minutes and plug back to power to see if that fixes it (it does a lot of the time especially if you had a power outage).

While watching TV red light come on and screen went blank. I turned off TV and back on a few min. later, worked fine. Two weeks later same thing, but will not turn back on. I turn on get green light, but...

unplug the tv, wait 5 mins plug it back in, and without using the remote, press the tv on button. see if its ok.

sounds like it could be a cabling issue, try replacing the cabling (if you have another tv, you can borrow the cabling before purchasing new set of cabling)

it sounds as if it is solder related, bur hard to say for sure. You ay need a service manual to actually trouble shootthe power supply and opeating circuits. I will post a lnk where you can get a service manual emailed to you

Picture has green tint on startup

Jar-Head, bad news, the picture tube has a mild short in the green cathode, tech can come out and try to restore it but it`s usually a futile attempt on sony tubes, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, BMW Rider

Sony has a code for those blinks indicating the problem area. Count the blonks till the pause then google Sony blink codes for the area to fix.
