Sound problems with Insignia Flat Screen 37

Hi Coyotedave,
You helped me previously with my tv sound and dvd player. I have purchased a new dvd player and an hdmi cord. I have a beautiful picture but still no sound. I also have sound problems when the hdmi cord is connected to tv and dvd when watching regular stations. I hear the voice (on a few channels with lots of white noise). When I disconnect the hdmi cord from tv the white noise goes away. I still do not get the channels I used to (cbs, pbs, abc, fox) clearly nor do I get any sound with them. NBC is the only one that seems to work. Any ideas? My antenna is not that old, but is that causing the problem?
Thanks for helping!

It is set for English. I have also checked the input to verify that it is set for TV. When I tried to play movies on the dvd I made sure it was on the correct setting as well. The tv was an open box special, could it be the problem? It seems odd that I would get sound on a couple of stations though. Thanks for continuing to offer ideas.

I don't have cable or satellite. I have an antenna to get the local stations. The connection is from the antenna to the tv, but not working. I would think it was the antenna, but I still don't get sound from the dvd to the tv only a picture.

We have a Toshiba model MW24FP3 tv. When we hooked up the converter boxfrom Dolby Laboratories Model DTA1050D the volume on the tv is real static...scratchy sounding. However the DVD player volume is fine. Another tv in the basement is hooked to a converter box and it work very well. What might be the problem ?

It may be that the set is set for alt sound. go to the menu and set the audio to stereo. If the audio is set wrong it thinks you are set for spanish and if the broadcast is not in an alt language there will be no sound.

The problem my not be the TV.. The TV don't care what channel it is on for sound. the sound works or it don't. If the signal into the set is from a cable converter or sat box, that could cause the set to not get a full bandwidths and the sound could drop out. If the source is digital all kinds of strange things can happen to the picture and sound. If you are using any type of top of set box try connecting the cable direct to the TV. if everything works normal the TOS box may be at fault.. If you are on SAT try another box from a different room.

I have a Insignia NSL37Q10A, when you turn it on it display's

Change input device to some other like a DVD player. Look for loose contacts in RC jack, cable, sockets. Look for any jammed buttons on TV or on remote.

Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry.
If problem persists, call in a qualified service technician.

Insignia 26 inch TV/DVD Combo produces strange odor when on.

You should never have an acrid or burning smell coming from electronics. I'd return the unit, if that is still an option, as it is about to fail.

I have a 42 inch Insignia plasma tv. I only hook

If you have the audio cables hook up correctly to where the video cable from DVD is connected to, it should be RED and WHITE wires for audio. Then go to on screen audio setup menu to see if the speakers is turn off in the menu. Also try hooking up the powered PC speakers to the AUDIO LINE out RCA jacks to see if you get the sound OK there.

No Non-Hd sound

In a nutshell, there is no solution to this problem. The new Insignia TVs have a compatibilty issue with certain HDMI connections. The best thing is to return the TV and purchase another brand. I bought the LG w/built-in DVD and everything works great.

No sound when dvd is connected to Insignia tv

If you are trying to use the S video you wont get sound . try using a HDMI or the composit cables. If you don't have a HDMI and have to buy one ** don't buy the expensive one as the TV don't know the difference no matter what the sales man tells you** the cheap ones work just as well.. if your DVD don't have HDMI connection us the composit RCA cables. Make sure you are connected to the audio IN not the output on the back of the TV.. use the video 1 inputs on the set they are color coded to match the cables.

this should get things working for you

Is there something else I need to buy?
