  • the first thing i would check is the airflow. make sure the vent behind the machine is a smooth rigid 4" duct and not the flexible type.
  • clean out the exhaust pipe and inside wall or wherever the air flows. the reason why the element is not staying on is because the heat is building up too fast without the proper draw of airflow thru the machine.
  • the blower blows air out of the back of the machine creating a vacuum inside the drum where the clothes are and pulling air across the heating element. if the air is blocked behind the machine or anywhere else then the draw of air is reduced or block completely.
  • this will cause a rapid buildup of heat and the thermostat(s) will turn off the element after a few seconds, just like what you are experiencing.
if you already checked this and don't think this is the problem, let me know i will help you figure it out.

My Whirlpool clothes dryer model GEW9200LW0 stopped drying completely. The drum turns but no heat. It began slowing down the heating process approx. 2 years ago. Any suggestions?

Electric Dryer Does Not Heat
  • If your Whirlpool electric dryer is having trouble heating, you should check all of the thermostats, the thermal cut-off, all fuses and the electric heating element for continuity and proper connection.

I don't know anything about dryers so please bear with me. My dryer drum turns, fan blows, but wont heat. replaced heating element. Still no heat. Has 124 volts on both prongs of element. What should i do?...

Have you tried flipping the breakers @ your electrical box? Mine will do that at time when one breaker has tripped. It will have enough juice to run it but not heat it. IF that doesn't work there may be a broken wire to the heating element or possibly even a faulty heating element. I'd try the breakers first though.(Im not a professional I've just been a single mom for 18 years and have found myself working on all sorts of things and gaining knowledge from hands on experience) Hope it helps & works.

Whirlpool Electric dryer type-DWJR-ELE-2406028-FM54. model LER7646JQO the heating element get very hot. the dryer does not turn on. the drum does not turn either.

If the heating element is getting very hot that means there is no air flow across it. If the drum doesn't turn then the blower is not turning causing the element to get very hot. Could be drum belt, drum rollers, or motor.

Whirlpool leb6000pq1 not heating

Thermostat controls heat. There is also a

motor centrifulgal switch, in the element

circuit, that the motor closes to insure

the motor is turning. Try another heat

setting. There is more than one

thermostat. You may have blown the

'thermal fuse' too, which requires

replacement. The elecment has a contact in

the 'timer' circuit too.

It is possible that your element has

failed also.

Tripped high limit. Must clean the lint

filter and the exhaust vent tube and all

the way in to the dryer. Hot air exit is

restricted.
