Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

When our IT people installed Office 2007 Plus Professional on my 64-bit Dell machine, they (and now I) get a error 2711 error message only when I open Outlook: an internal error has occurred (Outlook CDO). Is there a way for me to use regedit and clean up this problem without having to reinstall Office 2007?

Actually first try to update the machine in windows update , there might be a fix for this error, in the control panel on vista look for windows update,, you can also have a look at Problem Reports and errors to see if it has a solution, If you have vista with SP1 and there isnt any updates or no problem solution then try a system restore,
Click start and type restore in the search box, scroll down to find restore.

If that fails try reinstalling it

Not sure what you are trying to do. If you are trying to convert 32 bit to 64 bit Apps, try going to manufacturers website to look for drivers.
Win 7 will actually find the best drivers for your devices.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 with a 64-bit Intel chip, and 6 GB of RAM, and I can't install any 64 bit versions of Windows on it.

your ram may be bad but not fried so windows cant deyect it also may need to reset your ram aet in advanced setting ,although your system sjhould detect that and adjust so check system in control; panel see if its is matchiing ie .. if u put 4 gb ram it may say 3gb ,if it has 4 gb then yiur settings systems icon control panel double click avanced system settings click on it then click on advaced scroll down to virtual memory it should be for 4 bg. ram would read 4000 MB OR REAL CLOSE TO ADJUST IT,, AL;SO U MUST HAVE 64 BIT OS XP AND REINSTALL OS PLUS PICK 64 BIT DRIVERS FROM MANUFACTER OF PC TO RUN 64 BIT CANT HAVE 1/2 AND 1/2 [32 +64] DONT MESH FOR 64BIT...32 CAN HAVE BOTH NOT 64

check and make sure both windows Vista and office plus 2010 are both 32-bit system. If your windows vista is 32-bit and your office plus 2010 is 64-bit then the office won't install.
this is how your check if your computer is a 32-bit or 64-bit system

1. click start
2. look for my computer
3. right-click my computer
4. click PROPERTIES
5. from the properties window you will see if your vista is a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system.

for your MS OFFICE plus 2010 brows the cd and to determine if your office is a 32 bit or 64 bit
1. you should see x86= this is a 32 bit
2. x64 = this is a 64 bit

Can i install a 64 bit of 32 bit Computer?

Yes you can, unfortunately you can not upgrade from 32bit to 64bit, you would need to do a fresh installation. Also your processor and motherboard need to support 64-bit architecture. If you start the installation for the 64bit if the architecture isnt supported it would notify you that the installation can not be completed with an error message.
Enjoy your copy of Windows 7 64-bit if it works.

No you don't have to install a 64 bit OS. Only if you install over 3 gigs you MUST install a 64 bit operating system. 800MHZ is fine it will just back down to 667MHZ. your 32bit windows OS will see up to 3 gigs (minus graphics card memory). SO 2 gigs will work fine. Install one stick at a time and check in the OS and bios to make sure each stick works. I would say you possibly have a dead ram stick.

Cust is not able to download any program on vista operating system it gives an error message as not supported on windows 64 bit

there is very little software, and virtually no freeware, that supports vista 64 bit. return the computer if u can and exchange it for one with vista 32 bit, these machines usually have 3 gigs or less of ram, where as the vista 64 bit systems will typically have 4 or more gigs of ram.

Adobe Acrobat 8 error 2711

Sounds menacing but it’s fairly easy to fix.
Heres how to fix it:
  1. Download msicuu2.exe (Windows Install Cleanup Utility) from Microsoft, or by clicking on the file name.
  2. Run msicuu2.exe
  3. You will then get a message asking if you wish to roll back the in progress installation. You do.
  4. Install Adobe Acrobat or Reader 8.

Adobe’s more intrusive way of fixing it:
  1. Click Start>Run, type in regedit then hit enter or press ok.
  2. Back up your registry (not actually mentioned by adobe but a good idea whenever you’re about to make changes to the registry)
  3. Look for Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Inprogress
and delete the key if it exists.
  4. Install Adobe Acrobat or Reader 8.
