Question about RCA RT2380 System

1 Answer

Help! I have an RCA RT230 surround sound system that I bought a few years agoa and haven't really used until recently. I'm watching a movie. It usually takes about 70 minutes into it (the good part) when the sound cuts out. The machine has shut down, like there's a sleep mode to tell it to do it. I need to power it back up and find the proper source for it to continue playing. Usually it does this until the end of the movie. Sure has a way of ruining the end! Is it overheating? The dvd player is setting on top of it, but there is an air gap of about 1" between the two machines. DOES it have a sleep mode? I don't see anything in the manual that discusses it. Should I start looking for a replacment? Thanks for any help.

How too hook surround system to regular tv. Example : a football game. Thanks

Well, since the "regularTV" has no make or model number I will have to guess what outputs it has to suit your surround sound system which also has no make or model number! Using outputs that show left and right speaker channels wire each to the left and right speaker channels of the surround sound amplifier. How many, I don't know!

How to use a surround sound with tv not just dvd

If you have cable/FiOS TV/SATV,than you will have to connect a digital(fiber optic SPIDF or RCA type) form the set-top box to the suuround-sound system to get TRUE surround sound.I haven't come across a TV with this ouput, but not sure if some do.(If you use RCA analog audio cords from the ouput of theTV itself to an input of the sound system it will work, but it will be a glorified stereo sound, not true surround sound.

Bought a rca surround sound system an hooked it wks great but cant get surround sound on my cable chanels just when watching a dvd...what do i need to do?

You need to make sure that the Audio in the programs you're watching are broadcast in Surround.

You can also select a channel that is broadcasting in HD, and Digital Audio to see if that helps

To save money and bandwidth, they'll only broadcast the audio in the Analog format.

Hope that helps.

Please don't forget to rate:)

I've bought a panasonic sound surround dvd player and want to link it to a sky+ box and tv so that sky will play in sound surround. Can you advise on the wiring configuration please?

look at the back of your tv does it have a audio out RCA jack?
it should do plug in the surround sound into that using RCA cables

if your tv does not have audio out RCA jack then you can

get a adapter which makes scart connectors turn into RCA jacks get that off ebay

plug the yellow line to the tv and connect the red and white to suround sound
but with this there are a few problems sound will only come out when surround sound is turned on and skys sound will never play out the tv
if you switch to a PS3 or something it will not play suround sound

yuo best option is the RCA plugs in the back of the tv

because you have not written the model number of the tv or the suround sound i cant help any further

Plays movies in surround sound great, however tv shows in 5.1 do not play in surround sound.

With no knowledge of your TV source component (cable box??) and how closely you have followed its connection instructions, no one can really help you out. I'm pretty sure you might need to run either an optical or coaxial (RCA) cable into your 'system' for it to decode 5.1.
When in doubt, Read the Manual.

Surround sound ok whilst playing dvd but not working for tv

On your Sagem TV you should have two RCA ouputs (red and white connection usually marked ouput) ) Connect these to the input on the surround system using the interlink cable.

You should then be able to hear the sound from the TV by changing the SOURCE on the home cinema remote.

Better still if you have a digital out on your TV use that instead.

are you trying to use the surround sound for movies or music ? , ive got the dvd version of this system (sc-dv290) and ive noticed the surround sound tends not to perform well with music , but sounds great with movies. i think its because the movies have dolby digital and music does not. The dolby pro logic in my opinion doesnt really make that much of a difference in sound unless the sound is cranked up past 44db on the amplifier. the only cables you need are the ones that are attached to the surround sound speakers and they cannot be removed so it cant be the wiring . I reckon you have a 1 - faulty system 2 - listening to music 3 - maybe not pressing the pro logic button on the sound processor. Hope this helps

Sounds like you have a loose cable. Check that the connection is really in well. If the problem continues I would get a new set of cables, especially if you are using the ones that came with the receiver or dvd player.
