You can replace it. Take the cover off. Unplug the two sets of cables - one for power supply and the other flat gray cable. Remove the screws and put the new one. Plug the cables back.

Can a failed bios update be recovered?

Do you have a floppy drive in this PC? From what I've found you you *may* be able to fix it, but it will more than likely require a floppy drive and a disk. Also, you would need another computer to be able to get the files prepared for the floppy disk, and that computer also would need a floppy drive.

In a nutshell, you would use the 2nd PC to make yourself a boot disk, then put the boot disk in the broke PC and turn it on. In theory, if all goes will, it will read the disk and restore the BIOS.
But you may have to change some files on the disk so it will boot to the BIOS recovery program.

If you do have a floppy drive in the dead PC, turn it on and see if the floppy drive light comes on at all. If it does, then the computer is trying to access the floppy drive, which may allow it to read a disk. You will stand a better chance of getting any recovery to work.

Floppy Diskette Seek Failure Drive 3 Not Found: Parallel ATA, PATA-1

If your computer has the old floppy disk drive on it, then Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Case and then remove the cable from the back of the floppy disk drive. Evidently the drive is bad.

If there is no floppy disk drive on your computer, turn the computer off, restart it and watch the screen for which key it says to hit to get into the System Bios or System Setup and hit that key. You have to hit the key when you see the message or it will not work and you will have to reboot it. Once you get into the bios check your devices and drives for the Floppy drive and set it to None or Not available ( It is probably set on auto or enabled). Also check your Boot Sequence or Boot Order in the bios and remove the Floppy Disk from being in the boot sequence or set it to be after the Hard Drive and CD Drive.

Disk boot failure insert system disk

First if your computer has a floppy drive, check to a floppy drive does not have a floppy disk in this drive.
Your computer cannot find the hard disk to boot up.
Go to your BIOS to see if the BIOS detects the hard disk, if not remove the hard disk and re-connect it again and see if it boots up.
If it still does not boot up then most likely the hard drive has failed.
To get the computer working again, install a new hard drive, install Windows and the computer's device drivers and your programs.

When my computer starts it goes to a black screen and says "no bootable device jnsert boot disk and press any key" what can i do

Normal 0

This error message - "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key" means -

The PC cannot see a boot file/disk on either the hard disk or floppy drive.
Check the floppy drive and remove and floppy disk.
If there was no disk in the floppy drive then it is a hard disk problem.
Check the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected, if not open the case and re-seat the data cable on the hard drive and also where it connects to the motherboard disk controller.
If it still gives this error message and the BIOS does not detect the hard drive, then the hard drive is probably faulty.
A further check on the hard drive, remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port, if this computer does not detect it as an external storage device then the hard drive is faulty.
To get the computer working again, install a new hard drive in your computer and then install Windows on the new hard drive plus the computer's device drivers and your programs.

Problem with disk drive A:

First, you should try to keep the floppy drive. If you can find one, I highly recommend getting the floppy drive cleaner diskette. They're hard to find now, but it's worth it if you want to continue to use your floppy drives. If cleaning it doesn't resolve the issue, next item to try is replacement of the floppy drive. You can borrow a floppy drive from someone, plug it in and test to side if it fixes the problem, if not, then it's either a motherboard issue (which I doubt) or a software/windows XP problem (more likely of the two). In which case I would recommend reinstalling windows XP to see if it fixes the problem before shopping for a new motherboard or a new computer.

Good luck

System recovery Floppy

you can purchase locally a usb floppy drive and download some small utilities in the internet that can be fit in the floppy disk, but i suggest that better use memory stick because it is cheaper and you can have more space than floppy disk.
