When you came back to the topic thread to accept it, there was no accept button?

This is the thread url:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t759284-set

You should see an option to rate my solution as FixYa.

That should start the payment process.

However, it you don't see it or can't find it email
Chantell@fixya.com
Mention the problem and include this post url
http://www.fixya.com/support/t759284-set

Also mention to them if my solution arrived within two hours or not, if it were, I get six vs. four dollars as my cut. We don't receive hourly pay or anything. We only get paid scale for earning a FixYa from you the customer. So, we're highly motivated to be right and to be thorough, thus my long answer to you.

BTW, interference in the home is a real pain right now and I've been working with a company that sells a tool to analyze interference. I got to use a trial version and that's how I learned about channel 3. Share that with your friends and family if they run into the same problem.

Thanks,
Worldvet

  • 1. Delete the configured wireless connection if you already have one
  • 2. Enable WiFi but do not perform a search at the moment
  • 3. Open the browser, select Settings > Browser profiles and press "Search for WiFi"
  • 4. Select the connection that you want to connect to and type the details that match the settings on the router
    • Auth type = WPA
    • Encryption = TKIP
    • Network key = router pre-shared key
    • Protocol = HTTP
    • Home URL = address of modem (you can change it later if everything is already working)
    • Leave proxy blank
    • Linger = default
    • Adhoc = off
    • There is no need to change the advanced settings
  • 5. Save the settings but do not connect yet
  • 6. Exit the browser, go to WiFi and select the connection that you have just configured
  • 7. Check all the settings are OK
    • If the channel is different to the one set on the router, adjust it on the router to match the one used by the phone
  • 8. Activate the selected connection and try browsing the internet
That should get everything working. This applies only to personal wireless networks.

Static

My friend, we are all volunteers and we (the people who answer quesitons) work from our homes. Collectively, we are pretty good at what we do ... the pay ... is nothing. The incentive ... to help other people solve their troubles.

So,. now that I have a question to answer, I will say your telephone is capable of transmitting on one of several channels. You will have to dig through the menus or the owners manual for specific instruction on how to change the channel to one less prone to what ever the static source is in your home.

Things that cause static: microwave ovens, computers, flourescent lights, motors, cell telephones, garage door openers, CB (and other frequency) two way radios. Sometimes you can reduct static by reversing the plug in the outlet (the power cord I'm speaking of). Sometimes you can reduce static by moving the base station to another location.

I hope I have shed some light on your problem.

Thank you for your interest in FixYa.com.

My phone cuts off laptop wireless

Wifi typically operates in the 2.412Ghz - 2.472 Ghz depending on the channel selected. ideally the Wifi modem/router and the DECT phone should be operating in completely different bandwidths.

If your DECT phone is cutting off your Wifi wireless connection, then they must me operating in similar/same range: you need to change either your Wifi or DECT frequency 'channel' to minimize this interference.
Also make sure that there is a least 3 meters between the DECT base station and your Wifi modem/router to eliminate Transceivers static RF/EMF interference.

Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

Could our phones cause wireless internet connection problems?

Yes, most wireless routers and laptop wireless connections operate in the 2.4GHz band... the same band that most cordless phones are in.

Even bluetooth is in the same band.

If you turn your all cordless phones off (including the main base unit) and the interference disappears, then the solution is to change your phones to ones which operate in the 5.8GHz band.

My Motorola MA580 sometimes work and others don´t

It sounds as if the channel that the phone and base has selected during that session is bad, or being used by another system in the area. When that happens, try selecting another channel. You should be able to do this by depressing a button on the handset. Normally labeled "Channel". Please post further questions or comments. Please rate this solution through fix-it. Thank you
