Make sure darktime is set low in the setup program. It should be set to say 6 or 9 seconds. The LED display system will use considerable power compared to just the audio system.

HI, MY NAME IS ANGELA. I PURCHSED A SANSA MODEL

The Sansa charges via the USB cable. Fully charged, it should be good for 12-15 hours of playing. Be aware that not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge external devices. If your computer doesn't charge the Sansa, try a different computer. You can also charge the Sansa using other USB charges, such as you'll see for charging cell phones from a wall outlet or a car cigarette lighter.

How do i change the battery

  1. Remove the cap over the USB plug and insert the unit into the USB port of a desktop or laptop computer. The computer will recognize the Sansa Express as a new hard disk drive.

  2. Locate the battery icon on the upper right of the screen. The battery icon will fill in with color as the unit charges. When the icon is filled in, the charge is complete. The unit will fully charge in about 3 hours as long as the desktop computer or laptop is powered on.

  3. Plug the unit into the USB port of a car or AC adapter and then plug the adapter into an AC outlet or an auto cigarette lighter socket, as the case may be. The Sansa Express will charge in about 3 hours.

My sansa mp3 player

sounds like you are on the right track
let the battery recharge for at least a few hours, unplug and replug the unit to see if you get a response
if you dont get a normal response hit either the reset switch or the reset mode (manual should tell you how to do so) and you should get a response out of it
if you do not have the original manual you should be able to find it on the manufactures website
