Question about Lite On Laars Lite 2 Heaters: 250,000BTU MV Heater

2 Answers

Won't fire S.O.S. Our Laars Lite 2 LG pool heater won't fire up. The pilot is working fine, but when we turn the switch to on and turn up the temperature, nothing happens. We tried to bypass the on off switch and the temperature dial and the pressure switch and nothing happened. We changed the main electrical wires. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

It may also be the high temp switches under the 2" inlet/outlet header. The 150 degree high-limit switch sits horizontal and corrosion happens often there. But be careful removing as if the header is corroded and the switch is also, water will flow out , so be ready to bypass the heater. You will have to replace the header. Try to jumpe that switch out and I'll bet the heater fires up.

It's probably the pilot generator. It can't be bypassed to test becasue it actually generates a few millivolts to open the gas flow to the burner Part #W0036901

Every year I have a problem getting it to light. The pilot is lit but the heater will not turn on. It is 8 years old and I have been having trouble with it since day one. My pool guy comes out fires it up...

First, check the gas valve and make sure the valve in all the way to "on" not "pilot".After shutting to off for the winter, and not turning the valve all the way on start up could be it. If that is ok, check/replace the pilot generator next to the pilot lite. One question. Does the pilot go out soon after calling for heat? Next, if you have it on "spa" or "pool" on the temperature adjusting module, try the other setting. eg. If it is on "pool", switch the knob to "spa" and adjust the temperature.

Pilot light on but heater will not start

check the high-limit switches. Under the inlet/outlet header. if either is open it will not allow you to fire up. my 150 degree switch was corroded and after jump9ng out, bam it worked.

Pool Heater will not fire up.

Older heaters with "Hot - Cold" turn control can attract spider webs etc. I had exactly your problem and just blew the inside of the control switch with compressed air to clean it out. My heater fired up after that clean up procedure. Hope this solves your problem!
