Question about Hitachi 60V500 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
My Hitachi is approximately 5 years old. Still, it seems like this is an awfully expensive part to go out. Is it too late for me to call Hitachi re: this problem. I have my problem and estimate. It is from a repair company that Hitachi gave me the phone number for.
Good Day,
One the best ways to contact HIT is via the internet; hitachi corp. The light engine is very common problem for this product. Don't ask them to send part to you, work through a local Authorized Service Dealer. Ask them for a concession on the part. They only give concessions 50% of the time. My customers get the part about 98% of the time.(tech at house with estimate).
Good Luck, big IRISH.

I have the same problem, and was told that the replacement costs around $600.
Our light engine went after about 3 years of owning the TV. The repair person said we were very lucky to have it under warranty as the part and repair are very expensive. After having it replaced the pink circle in the center of the screen and flashing blue light disappeared. We are still having other problems. I have read on other forums that the light engine can be a problem with these TV's and that contacting Hitachi may be of some help and Hitachi may provide some financial assistance (ie. a replacement light engine). Anyway, good luck with it.
