We have a lexmark z700 series printer that we purchased 4 years ago with an e-machine computer the motherboard on the computer just recently fried and we bought a gateway computer. we are having trouble getting the computer to recognize the printer because the sreirs numbers are not the same.

I'm sorry to inform you that the Lexmark Z705 is not compatible with Mac 10.6. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for other options.

if you go to lexmark web site and download driver for your printer 1200 and should be for the OS(e.g. XP/Win7). Hope it will work.

Lexmark never provided a driver for the Z 715 series.
Fortunately you are not out of luck, because the driver for the Z700 works just fine under Ubuntu.

You can get the driver here. Download both binary drivers (z700llpddk-2.0-1.i386.rpm AND lexmark-z700-cups-driver-1.1.1-1.i586.rpm).

There is a very detailed description of how to set up your printer in Ubuntu, in case you are having problems with that. Look here. The last post in the thread gives you all the information needed.

Don't forget to install "Alien" and "Libstdc++5" on your computer!!!

You may want to see if the Printer is actually compatible with Windows Vista first before you try anything else.

If your Printer is Listed Below, then unfortunately it will not run on your system unless you format the machine and downgrade to Windows XP. (Or obviously you can wait until the device is supported, but to be honest that could be months, years).

You may need to download the Vista driver for your Lexmark printer... oh by the way its a lexmark printer right?

Note: Z700/P700 series according to the printer's website are the same maybe that's why your having trouble searching for it because it will only show as z700 series driver but when you check the actual filename it states that its cjrZ700-P700EN.exe

Absolutly...make sure you visit Lexmark.com and get the latest driver. But both the Z700 and the Z705 use the same driver.
