Question about Xerox Phaser 8560MFP Laser Printer

Scanner/copier light won't turn off

When the phaser is turned on the light for the scanner/copier turns on and stays on despite the fact that the lid is closed. How can i turn this off? i dont' want the bulb to burn out.

Thats not a problem. It is a design intent. That lamp has a calabration range where it needs to stay warm to maintain its intensity.
There really isn't anything to do to shut it off. You can make the power save time minimum but then when it restarts, it will empty the print head of ink and refill, thus wasting ink.
So, don't worry, it is the design intent of engineering and it is normal.
I have never seen one of those bulbs burn out. OOps, maybe I shouldn't have said that one LOL..

Lift the lid as if you are going to make a copy of a document.. then whith the lid up turn the printer off still with the lid up turn the printer on and watch the scan lamp .. the light that moves when you make a copy. Verify that it lights up and moves back and forth. If it does not move back and forth the scanner lock may be in the locked position.. let me know..

Fail to initializing


The fail to initialize is typically a problem with the document scanner...but not always. here is a quick test you can try. Turn the unit off then power it on again. Slightly lift the copy lid as the unit goes through warm up mode...pay attention to the light color emitting form the scammer. it starts to blink red, then changes to a bright white IF the scanner is working properly. IF the scanner is NOT working properly the scanner stays RED during the warm up.

2002 Grand Marquis headlights won't turn off with switch, won't go out until vehicle is turned off


Might these be "driving lights"?
Cars with "driving lights" have lights that are supposed to stay on all the time the engine is running.
These lights not only look like headlights, in fact some cars even have the headlights themselves come on when the engine is running. Look as some more (several) 2002 Grand Marquis's and see if they are the same.

Xerox Phaser 7400 error codes 929 - Please check your Waste Toner Auger Assembly if motor won't turn and when you done the sensor test and passed the Waste Toner Auger Assembly was jammed. I just fixed this problem here, just now!

Printer will not scan


he HP All-in-One product displays one of the following error messages on the control panel when scanning or copying:
  • Scanner failure, power off and on
  • Scanner System Failure
  • Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
  • Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
  • Scanner failure, cycle power
Additionally, the scanner bulb might not turn on during scanning.ry the following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue. When one of the solutions resolves the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.Solution one: Check the scanner lightFollow these steps to check the scanner light by making a color copy of any document.
  1. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
  2. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
  3. Make a color copy.
  4. When the product starts to scan the document to copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light turns on. It is not necessary to lift the lid completely CAUTION:Do not look directly at the scanner light.The scanner light should be visible under the scanner glass to the right or left.Figure 1: Scanner light visible underneath the glass

Solution one: Check the scanner light
  1. Follow these steps to check the scanner light by making a color copy of any document.
  2. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
  3. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
  4. Make a color copy.
  5. When the product starts to scan the document to copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light turns on. It is not necessary to lift the lid completely.
The scanner light should be visible under the scanner glass to the right or left.

The error message is saying the scanner is locked i took the steps to unlock it but i still get the same message


If you opened the lid in the same manner as you would to replace the ink cartridges and made sure that the switch on the right side underneath the lid was in fact unlocked, turned off the unit, waited a moment (up to 60 seconds) and turned the unit back on, but still receive the message saying that your scanner is locked, then you will need to use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the top cover and make sure that the scanner head is not somehow jammed. Usually you can hear the gears and motor spin up when the scanner head is unlocked. If you cannot, you may have a bad scanner head.
