Sometimes it will get 'disabled'. & then no longer work.

Check in both control panel & device manager for what your pointing device is set to.

Hello Prosper, I found drivers for a Sony Vaio VGC-LA1. It would appear that it is just a different name for the same model. These should work fine for you. Hope I have solved your problem, have a great day Prosper!

Trying to open the back of a sony vaio pcg laptop

You have posted a laptop question in the desktop section. Laptop disassembly is not something you just jump into like a desktop. Laptop components are very small, and not made for assembly/disassembly. The connectors are conductive paint on ribbons, and if you remove them more than once or twice you can break the whole laptop and it won't work at all. What are you trying to do exactly. Anything more than a hard drive or memory change you should take to a technician.

Try updating the drivers.

Visit Sony's support site, find your model, find the sound and lan drivers, install and let me know if that solves your problem.

Hello.

Your touch pad driver has probably not installed corectly.

I suggest you download the driver pack provided by sony here:
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/preinstalled/preinstalled.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&m=1674
extract the archive after download and run Apoint.exe from the PointingStickDriver directory

Hope this helps!
