Task bar on bottom of screen and ribbon on top of screen disappear -- can no longer access them

Help -- at work I have an old dell monitor.   I have an old dell laptop attached to a dock and the old monitor.   the task bar and the upper tool bar (or whatever depending on what program I'm in) disappear.  It's like they're too low on the bottom to access or too high on the top to access.
what's wrong?
thanks, barbara

Why is it that it is not made clear that you have to pay to get assistance till you've taken all the time to access the site, figure out how to post, then actually post.  then here comes the money police.
I google quick, free dell monitor assistance or support and you're what I got.  I beleived you were free.
Unfortunate.

Start tast bar disappears

Right click (hit right mouse button) on task bar and click to lock task bar and uncheck hide task bar. If you cannot right click on time before it disappears move pointer to the bottom of screen and it should reappear. Than follow above steps. If all else fails restart computer clicking on the F8 key repeatedly until start menu comes up , choose safe mode and when the computer starts up your task bar should remain in place, follow above steps to unhindered it permanently and reboot the computer it will start back up in normal mode and your task bar should be "fixed"

My Dell 1521 was working perfectly until this morning. When I tried starting it later today, the LCD screen no longer worked. The top third of the screen is fine. The bottom two thirds are covered by lines...

Your LCD has either gone bad or the ribbon needs to be reseated.

Carefully pry the plastic cover that runs parallel with your LCD. You will see the ribbon to the monitor. Press the connector down and make sure it didn't come loose.

Restart Windows.

If that doesn't work, then you will need to replace the LCD screen. You will not have to replace your lid...just the LCD. That should save you some money.

Hope this helps.

My status bar disappeared after upgrading my video card, don't know what to do to get it back.

Do you mean the Task Bar? if it is, ctrl+alt+del then go to File > New Task (Run...) then type explorer. Or click Auto on your monitor, to set the screen back to default view. Hope this helps.

Windows XP taskbar sink

This happens because you have set your Taskbar to Autohide mode.

Do the following steps:

  1. Move the mouse to the bottom of screen and let the task bar come up
  2. Right click on task bar
  3. Click on properties
  4. On the Task bar Tab Unchek Auto-hide the task bar
  5. Click Apply
  6. Press OK
Thats it

Task bar is missing on bottom of screen after pc wakes up.

mine does this with windows 7, right click on desktop and open 'personalize' then open 'taskbar and start menu'
From here choose to move your taskbar location to the side of the screen and click apply. it should return, then just tell it to go back to the bottom.

Assuming that you have some mistakenly changed the taskbar property that controls this:

1. Right click on your task bar
2. Select Properties
3. Un-check "keep the taskbar on top of other windows?
4. Click "OK" to save changes

Dell Monitor E773C

on dell monitors they have buttons on the front (at least the old ones do).   If you can't see things on your screen like task bar on the bottom, or anything on the top and sides --- try adjusting this buttons.  They control vertical size, horizontal size, etc. -- also position on the screeen    If you accidently hit them (I did) it throws everything off.
good luck
