Question about Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 in. LCD HDTV
Ive got a single vertical thin line on the right side of my sharp aquos screen I've had a vertical green line appear on the right edge of the screen on my Sharp Aquos LC-42G64U. About a week has passed and I haven't done anything about it. The set was new in December 2007.
Warranty still alive?
Hope so; the problem could be an expensive one.
The screen appearance is controlled by allowing light from a backlight through by turning pixels off and on.
This switching is done by a matrix that turns on vertical and horizontal pixels of the right shade at the right time to produce the image you see.
One of the control elements for the vertical that controls the transmission of green light from the backlight, has died (no longer switching off and on when told) and these are normally a part of the LCD screen assembly itself and not easily replaceable.
I would be talking to Sharp - this shouldn't happen in 6-7 months of use.
