If the turntable has not been used for long time, the lubrication of the motor or platter spindle may have dried out. I have found synthetic oil to be most effective as a lubricant.

New belt of Turntable and speed still wrong?

Hi,
Try to put one or two drops of oil in the shaft of the motor. be sure when you put the oil it should not spread on the pull where you put the belt. You will be able to see the shaft of the motor beneath the belt pulley. And also put one or two drops of oil in the center shaft one which the plater rotates. Probably this will rectify the problem of your turntable.

Would changing the belt help as my turntable plays too fast.

A lot of turntables have two belt positions on each pulley. One for 33 and one for 45. I would check to make sure the belt hasn't slipped into the 45 position.

Rotel rp1000 turntable rplaying too slow, new belt

HELLO

Check that your new belt is not too tight as this will slow the motor down as it tries to turn the platter. I would also suggest a little light oil (sewing machine oil is ideal - NOT WD40) on the motor spindle shaft where it goes through the motor itself it may be a little dry.

Clean off any gunk from the rim where the belt turns the platter and do the same on the pulley on the motor. Get some de-oxit (expensive but good) or SERVISOL to clean the speed change switch too.

ALL THE BEST!

Sony Belt Drive Turntable Platen speed

Check for grease on the platter or anywhere in the mechanism. Sometimes somebody has messed around with the speed preset, there might be two. You could try adjusting them. Sometimes they are found on the underside of the turntable, covered up, or they will be on the PC board of the deck.

TURNTABLE SPEED TOO SLOW. IS THERE ANY WAY TO ADJUST IT.

The liely cause of the slow speed problem is the belt. Your turntable is belt driven, like components in your car's engine compartment. As the belt ages, it can begin to slip. Replacement of the belt will probably restore the speed once again. The PX-E860 turntable has been discontinued. There are parts, such as the belt, that are still available. How much longer these parts will be available for remains unknown. If you like the the turntable, you should consider purchasing several belts as the next time you need one, they may not be available or may cost much more.

One source for replacement belts (there may be many others, ie: eBay):

You might also need a manual to direct you as to how to go about changing the belt. The manual is a free (after registering) download below:

Too slow?

http://www.archive.org/details/Turntable_Belt_Installation

above is a generic video that applies to almost all belt driven turntables including yours that will show how to install the belt and a few other things.

this can be caused be a new belt being too wide, you may need a narrower belt.
