Greetings,
This dryer could have several different things wrong with it and needs to be taken apart to check it....It could be the heating element shorted to ground or the dryer motor shorted out to ground...It could be an over heated wire that melted into each other..you need an understanding of how to check circuits if the obvious isn't seen...i.e. broken element or burnt wire....Bruce Denton

Why would my older Maytag Neptune Electric dryer suddenly quit? Interior light comes on when door opened, but when I press start, it shudders but doesn't tumble or start?

if thermal fuse ok you may have a problem with your interface board. Check thermal cut out, door switch and thermal fuse before suspecting board. Obviously need model to give you more accurate info.

80 series kenmore dryer wont heat - blows cold air during drying cycle. Dryer is all electric.

Hi,
If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:

Power from the house
Heating element
Thermal fuse
Wiring
Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Not spinning

A dryer has a lot of parts to make it heat, tumble and blow air. If it quit tumbling there are many things that could be wrong. You could start with checking the thermal fuse or belt switch or door switch, from there your into timers and motors. If you have electrical experience go for it :-) unplug first ;-)

I've changed the belt on my indesit is60v but now it will not start could it be a loose wire? my test pen says power is going from the start button to the timer

Just because power is getting to the switch doesn't necessarily mean the switch isn't bad. It is also possible that the motor or timer is defective.

Dryer is cool not getting hot?

1. Close the dryer door and press the "Start" button for at least one second. Some dryer brands require the button to be pressed for several seconds. If the drum tumbles, you can eliminate the possibility of a problem with the electrical circuit that supplies the motor.
2. Check all the connections on the back of the dryer. Many dryers have two electrical circuits--one for the heat and one for the tumbling motor. If the motor works, but there is no heat, check to see if the larger plug is plugged into its receptacle. Your dryer may have two plugs--one small regular household plug and one larger 240-volt plug for the heat. Both must be plugged in for the dryer to work properly. The larger, three-pronged 240-volt plug will not fit in a normal household outlet; it needs a special dryer outlet. The plug cannot be cut down to fit.
3. Check the circuit breakers or fuse panel if the dryer runs but there is no heat.

My whirlpool dryer keeps blowing the fuse for heating. The dryer will still tumble but once stopped, won't start until the fuse is replaced. We've cleaned the whole thing out and even set up a different...

I would check the outlet as it sounds like one of the wires is off/shorted. Here is a website that may assist you, Good Luck Tim:

My dryer won't start, but I think the cycle button won't engage.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The issue might have happened due to a blown fuse or burnt wiring/components on the control board. You'll need to check and replace the fuse and replace it.
Blows fuses or trips circuit breaker —ELECTRIC Models:
• The amperage readings are at 240 volts. One line will be 24 amps and the other line will be 21 amps. The neutral line will be at 3 amps. If the above amperages are not present, then the house wiring, fuse box or circuit breaker should be suspect.
• Shorted heating element to housing.
• Incorrect wiring or a wire shorting to ground.
• Drive motor winding shorting to ground.

Please do rate the solution & revert for further assistance.

Thanks

I think you may have a bad relay on the motor, where power is re-applied after the push start is released
