Try shutting the computer off, unplug printer, and start it all up again.
How is the printer connected? check the cable and confirm it's plugged in fully.

The screen on my HP officejet 6500 E709a has lines running through it and is not readable.

Hi,

It could be a screen issue, you may try the following steps to resolve the issue.

  • Turn Off the printer and Turn it back On
  • If the printer is directly to a wall outlet, if it's connected to a power surge or UPS.
  • Unplug the power cable from the back of printer without turning it off (this does a force reset)
  • Unplug the other end from the wall outlet
  • Wait for 10 seconds
  • Plug the cable back to the printer and the wall outlet
  • If issue still persist it's a display issue
  • You can contact HP on 1-800-474-6836 to service the product or take it to local store

Shrey

Error code 6500 on my mp8630...unplugged everything for hours...the printhead will not move back into place

Hello thanks for using FixYa
To solve error 6500 First try this:
  • Reset the printer:
  • Turn the printer off with the Power button
  • Disconnect the data cable from the printer.
  • Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in.
  • Turn the printer on. If this works you have solved the problem
If not try the next step
  • After confirming that the printer is powered on,open the paper output tray
  • Open the top cover and wait until the print head moves to the center.
  • Open the inner cover and check that ink tanks are properly seated.
  • Press down on each ink tank until a click is heard.
  • Close the inner cover and top cover.

Also do you have any kind of data equipment like a camera connected, if so this could be causing the problem as well. Unplug it if so and see if this is the problem after the above steps

I hope this helps, because Canon doesn't even have support for an error code 6500.
If it all fails the final & best option is to take it back where you purchased it or contact Canon service center about the error code. They will surely solve it.

I hope this solution was helpful for you.
