Question about Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Driving to a town

If you are in one town and you want to drive to another town but you don't have an actual address, will Garmin send you to a central point in that town? For example, the town hall, or city center. We have a Garmin c340.
Thanks, Kevin.

The easiest way to test it is to try it,
put in from your home, to your home town, and see where the marker ends up. you dont have to drive it, just pan the screens

How do i find a town center on a garmin nuvi 205 sold in france

Unlike TomTom satnavs Garmins don't have an option of setting the centre of a town. The only option is to enter a common street name, like "Main Street", and drive to there. If there's no "Main Street" in the town type any letter and press "done"so it will show you a list of streets to select from.

An address appeared on my gps, however, it is an address I don't recognize and never entered.\r\nHow would this happen?

If you were browsing the map on the satnav it's possible that you pressed the screen at that point which would give the option of saving it to the favourites folder. If you then pressed SAVE it would save to favourites.

Another possibility is that when you were driving the car you pressed the car icon, which shows your location. This can automatically save the location to favourites if the car was moving or if you were stopped it would ask you if you wanted to save it.

Garmin won't recognize the city, so I can't enter the address

Instead of entering a city, hit "Search All". Then enter the rest of the address as normal. Sometimes the address is listed as being in a different/nearby city due to the ZIP code. Let me know if this helps.

Can't unlock my garmin nuvi 680

There is NO master reset code. Whoever told you this was wrong. You have to use your security location to unlock it. Otherwise, you have to send it in to Garmin with the original receipt from an authorized Garmin dealer. This is to prevent use of the unit in case of theft.

Need to know how to unlock these two units for updates to the maps without paying an arm and a leg

The only way to get these unlocked is to actually SEND the unit to Garmin and they will confirm that you are the rightful owner and then unlock the unit.

Says low battery how do I charge it?

You charge the unit via your cigarette lighter socket using the charge lead supplied. Generally you type a zip code if you know it and the satnav will calculate your route.\if you dont know the zip code type in an address but this gives several areas. Zip codes are preffered. It will talk once you start driving giving you forwarning of any turns you need to make in advance. Good Luck

When you select an address, make sure you select the right state/town since many addresses are the same and the state/town is the only thing that makes a difference.
Your garmin has a menu, find the menu and you will be able to fo to "ERASE ROUTE" or "CLEAR ROUTE" press it. It can be worded differently, but find the option with the words erase or clear.
For inserting the right address I will give you an example:
100 Main street, Farmingdale N.Y. is your address
touch select route, it will ask you for one bit of information at the time.
select town: Farmindale NJ, Farmingdale NY it will give you a list of Farmingdale towns in US. Select Farmingdale NY. If you live in NY.
next, it will ask select street: Main st you write your street, make sure you don't choose Main rd this is Main road not Main ST
next select number: insert 100 since this would be your house number.

Remember it is very important to select the right town and the right street to get to the right address.
You can practice by inserting addresses that are near to your location and then erasing it.

first turn it on and let the unit acquire satellites to find your home state. Then you can set up your address as your "home location". When I first set it up, I was able to pick up the satellites in my bedroom (scary....)...everything worked just fine.
