The receiver is letting you know you have fan problem, the fan cools the audio output ic's when the volume is increased, there is a sensor on the heat sink which drops resistance as heat rises which controls the movement of the fan, either way it is a sensor or defective fan issue, it should be checked.

Toshiba dvd recorder error code

According to:

From the manual
02-57 Fan lock
This code is output when fan locking (over 30 seconds) is detected.
After the error message is displayed, the power turns off.

Perhaps opening the unit with the power unplugged (of course!) and clearing/cleaning the fan would help. It may be that the fan is just clogged with dust/debris.

check for failure in the power supply, you must need a trouble shooting to check weather the power supply has enough output voltage.

Dvd recorder in standy wont work - blue standby light showing!

The main power supply board has the fault. It might be replaced. It is best to replace as card basis, rather than making 'surgery' to it.

It shows "Fan Fail" and

The failure is of fan only, fan may be damaged. It can be replaced with and other fan. take it out, and go for an other same type. If the whole system is dead, it should be due to the fault of its power inverter board, and should be ckecked well. If power board has some trouble, front panel display also will not be there or display will be present, but no other functions, like load disc or unload disc, play etc won't work. From these make sure which part has the trouble and go on. You have pointe out the fault of the fan only here. OK.

Power light comes on, but the computer does not boot

You need to Try plugging a desktop PC monitor into the serial port/vga on the laptop.. You're doing this to see if windows shows up on the external screen, if it does, you have Issues with your Display.. Which would be... The Display Panel or possibly the Display Cable

If No External Video....
You Have Video Issues .. Faulty Graphics/GPU Chip

I have a samsung ht-x40 dvd home theater system that powers up briefly showing "hello" display, then the function it's on. Immediatly after that the display comes up saying "protection"...

Check the components near the fan in the back to see if any caps are fried (looks like it exploded)causing the protection circuit to come on if this is fine then check the fan to see if it if freely moving.
