SOURCE: it does`t show on my computer and make sounds

All might not be lost. There are services that will attempt to recover files from decaying hard drives. There is also software you can download to attempt it yourself.

Here is a review of one such service at PCMAG:

SOURCE: computer doesn' t recognize iomega eGo portable

a windows update may have run and killed the drivers...try rolling the system back to before the problem started, then if updates run again..and set them to download but dont install..install them yourself..run updates and see if the problem re-appears.

SOURCE: My iomega makes a beep

I am afraid that the drive has been physically damaged by dropping it, but the only way to be sure is to remove the drive from the housing and connect it directly to a computer with the correct adapter or cable. This will eliminate whether it is the drive or the electronics.
It is possible but not very likely that a connection has become loose (which you can check when its open) or the electronics has failed but sadly it is most likely to be a damaged disk drive.
There are data retrieval companies that could possibly retrieve some of your data but it is VERY expensive.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

SOURCE: Hi, My FreeAgent Go portable hard

This is a mechanical failure of the drive. You will need to get a new one. Recovering the files off of this can be very expensive.

It may depend on what type of file system you chose when formatting it. For file-type support beyong 1.5 Gb, such as high-resolution videos, aka. HD movies, Iomega should be able to recognize NTFS file system. Perhaps you chose FAT, or FAT32? In that case Iomega may not recognize it.

Disk spins ...then I hear a beep...icon does not show up

The hard disk or the adapter case maybe faulty.
To test the hard disk, remove it form the Iomega case and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and plug it into a computer's USB port.
If this computer see it as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files then the hard disk is OK, then the Iomega adapter case is faulty.
Then you need a new hard drive adapter case, it doesn't need to be an Iomega brand.

Did you have to install a driver for it initially? Try reinstalling the driver, if so.

I thought most drives were plug and play. If it does not have a driver, trying using a different USB port. Sometimes the ports can freak out and not recognize the item plugged in, especially if you use multiple items in the same port. (ie, cameras, cell phones, printers, etc)

Hope this helps at least some. Good luck!

Hard drive not recognized

is damaged my friend. Hard drives are very, very delicate pieces of equipment. The disk is paper thin and any sudden jarring, especially dropping it creates a warp in the drive. Unplug it to prevent further damage. Don't worry in many cases you can have the data retrieved from your hard drive by using this online company that I highly recommend:

Your USB port does not have enough power to support the drive. You will need to use an external power source of try a firewire cable if the drive has that option.
