Hi, Im using Linksys SR224 24 ports as my main switch. I got a poor internet connection, this problem occurs few weeks ago. I tried to connect my modem through a LAN cable directly to my server and works fine. I also tried to rearrange my LAN cables but sometimes it i got poor connection or sometimes no internet connections. At the meantime I use my back-up switch. What cause this problem? Try a brand-new cable between the modem and the "uplink" port on the router.
Try a brand-new cable from one of the "LAN" ports to your computer, and test to see that you get a good connection.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Connect Linksys 8-Port Switch to two PC's, a modem and printer

What's the model number of it? Is it a router/switch? Or just a switch?

The modem would go into a WLAN port. Everything else would go into the numbered ports.

If you pass me the model number then I can provide more information.

You'll want to connect one computer or laptop to it first before setting it up so you can configure the correct settings. You'll need the admin password. If it's just a switch, then you can just plug in; however, I strongly advise putting a router in between a modem and switch. You want to have a firewall in place.

SOURCE: I have a Linksys 5-port switch connected to a cox

Because the cox cable modem will only bind to one mac address (computer). You need to purchase a router, any router linksys, dlink, will do, get a wireless one so you can setup wifi as well. Plug your cox cable modem into the wan port on the router, plug your pc into one of the ethernet switch ports, you can use your web browser IE to login to the router and secure your wifi signal, power cycle your modem to make it bind to the new router. Most linksys dlink are programmed for a class c network, you could in theory put 254 devices, computers on your connection now.

Should be no problem. I would use the SRW224 as your main switch and hang the other one off one of its 100mbit ports.

I have a wireless network of computers, one wired and 2 wireless. in the correct setup, my other acer laptop doesn have internet, but s connected to the router, and this laptop im using CAN connect...

All the computers should have the same NETWORK NAME or SSID.

Recheck the settings and make an adhoc connection for each of the computers to your router.

You can also get a USB wireless adapter to enable ht NO internet laptop and connect them.

Just keep playing with the NETWORK SETTINGS.

Make sure all are connected to the SAME SSID.

Hope it helped.

God Bless You!

Cannot connect to internet using this~help!

Hi Friend,

Please follow the steps in order to resolve the issue;
I hope you have a cable internet connection.

1.Make sure the connections are properly fitted as mention below:

The wire coming out from the modem should be fitted into the WAN/INTERNET port of the router. Connect the computer to either of the four LAN ports.

2.At the back of the router there is RESET button, push and hold that button for 30 seconds and then release it.
3.Turn off the router for 30 seconds and turn it on after that time.
4.Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla) and hit enter
5.Enter the Username and Password(default password is admin and leave the username blank)
6.Under the setup page make sure "Obtain an IP Automatically" is selected and DHCP server is enabled. click save settings
7.Now Click MAC Address Clone
8.Enable MAC Clone Service and click the TAB Clone
9.Click save settings and turn off the router for 30 seconds and Turn it on after 30 seconds.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

Regards
Chiranjeet

Can not ping our netvanta 3200 from behind a Linksys nat router

The switch between the NAT routers and the Netvanta had some faulty ports ... the physical connection was broken. Once the switch was replaced, the internet connection was restored.

I have a WRT54G ver.6. Was working fine until I went fron DSL to Broadband(cable) Now system won't connect. ???????

Are you attempting to use the device as a router or a switch?  Because if when you switched to cable you got a new router with it this device may be trying to steal this devices capabilities. Im assuming there are five ports, one to plug the Internet into and another to plug in the devices you wish to connect. Try plugging the Internet Ethernet cable (directly from your cable modem) into one of the four device ports and NOT the singular Internet port.

Im trying to hook up my xbox and get on the internet by using a linksys

Physically connect the XBox to one of the LAN connection of the router or be connected wirelessly.

If unable to connect to the Internet open these ports using the router under virtual server or port forwarding:

TCP 80, 3074 and 53

UDP 88, 3074 and 53

Note: Also the IP address of the XBox should be open to the section.

Hi i have a satellite internet provider and im trying to set up my linksys broadband router so i can hook up my xbox 360 my problem is everytime i hook it up im getting no internet connection can you tell...

hi,
there are two things to be addressed in this case.firstly you have a satellite internet provider which can create consistency issue.then when you connect a xbox to router you need to do a port forwading on linksys router(port forwarding=opening ports in router so your xbox can communicate freely).in order to do the port forwarding you have to log onto router user interface.then go to applications and gaming tab, where you can do the port forwarding.
but before doing so,you have to contact microsoft to know the ip address assigned to the xbox and the ports(numbers) to be opened.
thank you.
