I could hear a soft humming noisewhich lasted a short time and then stopped. .Is the problem the compressor? Check where the compressor is and right next to the compressor should be a fan .Check to see if fan is running ,if it is then check the final type coil to make sure they are clean .
Sounds like your unit is shutting off on high head pressure

SOURCE: Fridge Stopped cooling

If the fan isn't running the "cold" won't make it to the refer section and the freezer won't get proper circulation of air. The "evaporator fan" must run when the compressor is running.

Is the fan in the freezer running? You should be able to hear it. If not, that is your problem. Check the door light/fan switch or check if the fan has power to it when you press the door switch in by hand. If fan is running, you could have a defrost problem. The defrost timer or the defrost heater could be faulty.

SOURCE: Refrigerator warm, freezer cold

Totally Unreasonable if you don't mind me saying so. The person who told you that story was thinking of an absorption unit more than likely.

Your proble is related to the defrost system of your refrigerator. There is a timer that automatically starts the defrost. It energizes the heaters that defrost the cooling coil. After the coil reaches a preset temperature a defrost terminator turns the heater off for the remaining time on the timer cycle. You could have a bad timer (stalled) which would not start the defrost. Locate the timer and turn the clutch head screw clockwise very SLOWLY until you hear one audible click. The defrost should take place and will be indicated by water in the drain pan under the refrigerator. If after 25 minutes it does not restart in the cooling mode turn the screw once again to the second click and replace the timer.

If the refrigerator restarts after 18-22 minutes and defrost does not take place your problem is in the heater circuit. Open heater or thermostat (termination switch)

Fridge is not getting cold even though the thermostat is at 5

Most friges take cool air from the freezer with a fan to cool the rest of the unit. I am not familar with your model but there should be a fan somewere in the back of your freezer. Also make sure you have space in back and to the sides of the fridge for air flow.

Larder fridge light on but not getting cold

Check condenser clean and warm. If too hot, may be fan not running, if too cool, compressor not pumping or short of gas

Fitted tall larder fridge freezing up on the back wall what is the problem and how do l sort.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.
