Trying to hook up aftermarket stereo with no factory harness. How can I go about wiring my new stereo wires or my replacement harness (with module) to my car's already existing loose stereo wiring??

Hi Daniel

You need to test & label all the loose wires.

Use a multimeter in Ohms mode to place a tickle of electricity to each speaker wire. you should hear each speaker crackle. (Multimeters only use a 9v battery internally)
Label each pair of wires for speakers.
Their color coding may help. Keep the negative & positive wires to the speakers correct so that the speakers all travel in a forward motion together or you will have distortion from one speaker that is out of phase with the others.
You will also have a permanent +12v line and a Ignition Key +12 volt line.
One keeps the station memory etc when the ignition key is off.

Cheers

I have a aowa electric bike 48v 500w. the batteries are split into 4 12v 12ah. can i use a lower, lets say 12v 10ah battery or lets say 4 12v 9ah batteries?

yes, the ah has to do with the capacity of the batteries, so the lower the ah the shorter the runtime, and if you have 3 10ah and 1 6ah the capacity of the 10ah batteries will be downgraded to 6ah

Check with a Volt meter for 12 v constant and 12v when key is turn it on and a ground . The rest of them is speaker wires, to check the speaker wires all u need is s AAA or AA battery. Put the wire on each end of the battery + and - with two wires you will hear speaker static then you know which speaker..

Sometimes its running about 12 volts an then it will drop to 10 then i'm stranded! its a new batterie should i ck all my grounds?

You didn't mention the year of the bike. 12V means your battery isn't charging. If you have a regulator check the voltage at the gen terminal. If it is more than 12V, the regulator is bad. If you have a bike that's equipped with an alternator, check the voltage coming out from the rectifier (DCVolts) and the voltage (AC volts) going into the rectifier. You should have more than 12V coming out and somewhere around 14VAC going into the rectifier. Good luck and safe riding.

I have a 2004 K1200GT and have unfortunately misplaced my manual in a cross-country move. I thought I remember being told there was a 12V plug-in somewhere on the bike ( where one might run..say a GPS unit...

Yes, there is a 12 V accy. socket on your bike which can be used to charge the battery while it is still in the bike or for powering 12 V gadgets. If memory serves the socket is located on the LHS of the bike.

GPS consume very little power, so you could wire it directly to the battery with a small (3-5A) fuse in the line. Battery is located directly under the seat.

My battery has discharged. I bought a new charger, but it seems to not carge the battery. Any actions or is a new battery needed?

I took my totally discharged batteries into an auto supply store and they left them on their charger overnight. There was no cost for that service and the batteries came back to life and have lasted an additional 6 months. I just replaced them with 12V 15Ah batteries and am getting much better performance now. The total cost for the new batteries was about $70, including delivery.

Bike was left on and battery fully discharged. It

Were you having trouble with the battery before this incident? If not, then charge the battery with a charger...NOT a trickle charger...for 12 hours. After this, check the voltage with a volt-ohm meter, it should read 12v -14v. Install in the bike, connect and check it again with the volt-ohm meter, it should hold the same reading as off the bike.

Try to start the bike, if it starts, check the battery again, now it should read 14v or a little more. Turn everything off and try to start it again. If it starts, the battery is still good but don't leave it on like that anymore.

If you get anything less than 12v after ther charge, the battery most likely has a dead cell and needs to be replaced.

Battery

Sorry to hear that you have no spark on you bike. Just a quick thought have you measured the battery voltage could your charger have damaged battery. I over charged my battery last year ( would only produce 8V) and had to get a new one along with an Optimax 3 charger so it would not happen again.,,
