We have the exact same isue. When trying to upgrade the firmware to the 'latest' from Sony's website, it shows the old firmware to be 3.14 but the 'new' firmware that will be uploaded to be 3.03. Not sure what's up with that.

Normal 0 Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud

I can't access the "user settings" or the PTZ controls even as administrator. All I get is an empty box with a little x in the corner. Any help would really be appreciated.

Look for the administration tool on google. That will allow you to manually configure the device and setup users. If you cannot find it send me a msg back I'll send direct.

WVC210 CISCO PTZ camera... i can access through ethernet but can't access through wireless. I had tried installing in the sameway specified in the manual.

I had the same problem. Here was my successful solution:
reset the modem
only change the SSID (do not activate the security yet)
reset the camera
install the camera
set the static ip address
set the SSID to match the modem and save settings
unplug the power and the ethernet to the camera
plug in the power to the camera and wait for the lights on the front are illuminated
go back into the camera and set the security settings
go into the modem and set the security settings.

I hope this works.

Hello, I have a Sony EVI-D100 (ptz), I can connect the camera to my laptop, but only by the VISCA cable, used to control remotely the camera via PC, therefore I can control the camera but none video is...

Visca cable is only for camera control, it does not transmit video signal. You will need a USB video capture device and a s-video or composite video cable. Make sure the device you choose has the drivers for your version of Windows.

The microphone on my HP pro webcam won't work. When I test it, it just buzzes. I tried changing the sound on my computer control panel and on skype but neither work

This could be caused by many things including that the microphone itself has either stopped working or if you just purchased the unit it may be defective. but it can also be caused by a improper installation in windows itself.
to reinstall the camera please follow the steps outlined below.

First step i would unplug the camera and uninstall the current drivers.
2nd i would follow this link to Hp's website where you can download the latest HP pro webcam driver/software. 3rd after downloading the software do not plug the camera in and restart your computer. 4th. After your computer has restarted and all the normal startup processes are running. Open the newly downloaded drivers for the HP pro camera. install the camera. After the installation is done then you can proceed to plugin the camera. Unless you were prompted to at a specific time during the installation.
After that you should be done and it should be installed and working.
If the microphone on the webcam is still not working it is most likely that the microphone itself has stopped working. If you just bought the unit you should return it for an exchange. If the product is still under warranty you should contact Hp and get it fixed under warranty.
If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the solution. thanks and have a great day.

My 2.0 mega pixelsgigaware webcam stopped working. Do i have to re-install that software?

That would be a good place to start.

First go into add and remove programs (if you are running XP or earler OS's) (in vista or windows 7 look for Program and Features in the control panel) then uninstall your camera.

Next unplug your camera then restart your computer. (this will clean all remaining files associated with your camera.

now go ahead and install your camera software and follow onscreen instructions.

Now if your camera does not come back to life it could mean that the camera is defective and you may need to purchase a new one.

good luck and have a great day

IP camera keeps resets itself

Hi

I have a pretty good knowledge of these cameras as I have 5 around my house.....

IP address resets are likely caused by the default address being loaded (192.168.0.99) and the box is not checked to reset the IP on reboot. You have two options.....

Using IP surveillence, open the camera settings. You will be prompted that the recording will stop, just press OK. Once you get to the settings window, you should see your list of cameras and the config screen for the one that is highlighted. Pick the camera you want to change the setting for and go to the tab where you can assign the IP address and gateway. Type in the IP address you want it to use. Uncheck the box that says 'reset IP on reboot'. That box is at the top. Hit apply. Once you do that, cycle the power on the unit leaving it off for at least 10 seconds. When the camera reboots, type in the new IP and you should be able to view it. (sometimes the camera will default on that IP if your router is using 192.168.0.1 and DHCP for computers that has that IP in it's range of assignments of IPs. Telling the camera which one to use and telling it to not reset on reboot will make the new IP stay in the camera.)

Your second option is to use the Installation Wizard or IE, find the camera either by typing in the IP for the camera in IE with the http:// or linking to the device with the installation wizard. If you follow the same procedure of assigning the IP and unchecking the box on reboot like described earlier, this should cure your problem. You do NOT want the IP resetting on reboot unless the camera will not link to your home router (likely causes for this is the IP range the router uses, say 192.168.1.1 like most belkin or linksys routers use, does not cover the IP range of the camera in it's DHCP server.

What I found best was to buy a junk router, set it's DHCP IP range to cover 192.168.0.99, set the camera, save it, kill the cameras power, connect it to the router you plan to use, then start the camera back up. Make sure whatever IP address you use on the camera is one covered by the DHCP server list on the router. ie: camera is set to 192.168.2.2 and the router assigns IPs from 192.168.2.2 through192.168.2.254. If your router only assigns IPS from 192.168.2.100 through 192.168.2.200 and the IP on the camera is 192.168.2.2, you won't be able to connect to it.

Hope this helps
