Open Question

I just replaced the bulb on my viewpoint pj500 projector, it worked fine. the next day i tryed to turn on and it didn't work. there was no picture and there was a strange high pitched screech sound. i removed the bulb and the clear bit of plastic the bulb pointed at is now cracked. i tryed the old bulb and it still works, and the picture looks the same despite the crack. i reinstalled the new bulb and am still haveing the same problem.

SOURCE: CRACKED

Hi Mark

I'm a ASP Repairer for BenQ Projectors and it sounds like your Packlight Pipe Module took a blow ( it is a very fragile part )

Quickest way to check if this is well the problem - switch on your Projector and tilt the unit from side to side - if the cracked bits move you can be sure that it is your problem.

Very cheap to have it replaced.

SOURCE: my cd cracked for the projector acer pd100 series

Hi there

Very simple - go back to the dealer you bought this from and tell them the CD was damaged when you opened the box. They will give you a new one on the spot.

SOURCE: Viewsonic PJ556d shuts down after 30-60 seconds

My solution sounds dumb, I had the same issue. Took the lamp cover off the bottom. The screws were loose holding in the lamp. Maybe they heat and expand and eventually work their way out and the lamp doesn't make good contact. Just tightened mine up, the unit would power off after 45 minutes prior. Been on now for 5 hours, no trouble.

SOURCE: Fan not working

I have the same problem. I open the unit and replaced the fan. I found the computer chassis fan compatible (60MM X 60mm) from E-Bay for $5.00. It is now working find again. This is for those who will encounter the same problem of the fan not working.

My Viewsonic PJ500 , The white bottom meets yellowish, and the edges that are black, they meet blue. Thanks!

Hello,

if this is a DLP projector then the light tunnel needs to be adjusted or replaced or the colorwheel index needs to be adjusted if what you are describing is ghosting of sorts.
If this is an LCD projector your green lcd panel could be burnt, or you could have true ghosting that needs to be adjusted with the options in the hidden menu and should only be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Good luck

Viewsonic PJ500 bulb does not come on

Hi.
Look at the base of the bulb at the filament in the center of the bulb, if buldging change he bulb first. If the porblem continues then have the units Ballast or Sometimes called the lamp driver check and replace if defective. The cheapest way is the check the voltage at the lamp connections in the housing for At least 280 volts, while turning on the unit you will need a voltage meter to do this.

I have the same issue, I have figured out its a fan issue, my fan must have went out. After about ten minutes the bulb will get too hot and the picture will start to turn a way off tint color. I put a fan on my projector and after about 40 min. the picture returned to the appropriate color. I am still investigation on how to get and replace the fan.

Can you tell me why the optoma HD72I lamp will turn off after just a few minutes of running, the lamp is still fine

I have the same problem. I got a new bulb and it worked for about 1000 hours, then the new bulb started having the same problem. So, I was about to buy another bulb, and I figured why not try the original bulb. IT WORKED! For a couple weeks... Then it started doing it again. Obviously there was nothing wrong with the original bulb, and there is nothing wrong with the new bulb, but I have 2 bulbs that do it now. So, is there any way to just tell the projector run the bulb till it actually dies and not turn it off because it thinks it is about to die.

Hi, please try to a different cable, reseat the bulb & try a different input source such as VCR, DVD or different computer. You can also try replacing the bulb. If issue still present call the projector manufacturer for service or they may excersie the great warranty option of that projector.
