Question about Canon PIXMA MP170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Does not print, responds with paper jam. No paper jammed. Clean sheet of paper passes through. Could a buildup of dust be the problem and its age. Tried cleaning roll by command and changing the ink. I always used Costco refills but last time my son had cartridge refilled at a nearby shop.. The paper was bought at Office depot so should be okay.

What you could try is let the printer to reset.
Remove both ink cartridges.
Close cover and turn off printer.
Unplug printer from electrical outlet.
Wait 15 minutes. This will let the printer to clear memory.
Plug printer back in.
Turn on printer, printer would cycle to the start position.
E5 error would appear.
Install ink cartridges.
If nothing is in the printer that prevent the printer from recycling.
There should be no paper jam error.

My oki c3400n continual paper jam's at the fuser. Paper comes out of the printer about 2 inches then jam's. I clear it and it happens again. Don't see any contamination on the fuser roller.

There are paper path cleaner sheets that you can get at supply stores or on line. They are sticky on both sides. They pick up paper dust from the rollers as it passes through the printer.

Exit jam

have the machine perform a paper path test with just 1 copy to see if this jams then have it path test 5 prints to see when it jams- if its only jamming when more than one sheet is being printed then the fault lies with the paper pick up ( you may notice a longer delay for first print)
the machine will attemp to feed three times before failing as a jam
if the machine is printing more than one sheet then the jam appears just before the tail end of the first print exits the fuser (fixing Unit).
clean or replace the feed rollers.
if the jam happens on every print and the code is 13:02/3
then paper pass sensor arm 2 has stuck (look on you tube to resolve this search for lj4200 13:02 jam)
hope this helps- if you are still unable to get the machine working and your willing to pay then I would suggest Belmonte Buisiness machines
are a good company to deal with they are on 0161 480 5556 and can call out anywhere in the UK

Paper keeps getting jammed in the back of printer. Can not figure out what would be jamming it. Paper does not look wrinkled.

Best answer here is get a can of compressed air and blow away any dust or dirt buildup at the sensor points. Second get WD40 and a lint free cloth. Spray a small amount of WD40 on the cloth and gently clean the rubber rollers and nothing else. Most paper jams are from something very simple. Try print 5 blank sheets after you are done. This will absorb any excess oil. Failing thsi you may want to drop it off at a local computer shop for roller replacement. They do wear down. Best of Luck.

Will only print 1 copy then says paper jam, but I think it is not picking up the next sheet of paper. I have taken the paper out fanned it and replaced it only to have the unit make 1 copy and display...

Clean the paper feed tire. If it is not picking up the paper this is the most common cause.
Just remove the paper tray completely from the machine. Now look into the port where the tray was. The tire is in the center from left to right and on the top side right at the front edge where the tray goes in. Just use a cloth and some glass cleaner or even dampened with water as we are just trying to remove any paper dust/dirt buildup on the roller. Just clean the part you can see then rotate the tire around to clean the rest. I think on this model the tire will only rotate 1 direction.
Once clean just re-install the tray and test.
Good Luck and thank you for using Fixya.

Xerox 4150 continues to jam on first print - "print engine jam"

Chances are you have a buildup of toner on the charge corotron. This is a part of the copier that charges the drum to accept toner. If there's buildup of toner inside or on the grid of the corotron then the charge will be erratic or excessive and cause the paper to jam as it passes by the drum.

Check your user manual on how to properly remove and clean/replace the corotron.

Paper error showing. I pulled out paper jam and none showing, yet cannot get it to print

When the Printing job initiated, the pages will print slowly and we cannot pull the paper from the printer. That will lead to the paper push becomes inactive.

Thnigs to do for rectifify the problem :

01. Please remove the toner / cartridge from the Printer..
02. Please remove the jammed sheets from the roller.
03. If any other opening available in the printer, that also can be opened.
04. Please try to pull out all loose sheets available in the printer.
05. Clean the roller with good cloth and remove all dusts from the printer.
06. Install the papers in the In Tray properly.
07. Reboot the system along with the Printer.

The above points will solve your paper jam problem in the printer.

Have a Nice day

Error 3, paper jam

use an antistatic vaccum or canned compressed air to clean the interior of the printer.this problem may cause by dust and debris inside the printer.inspect for any broken part in the paper path.if u find any u will have to investigate repairing or replacing the printer.
try using different weight paper .some printers work best with the particular weight of paper and if you use paper too thick or too thin jams can usually occur.thanks

HP paper jam

That is usually caused by the paper feed rollers being cover with paper dust. Take a clean cotton pad and alcohol and clean the rollers :turninig each roller as you clean it. if it has a rear dor, open it to get better access to the rollers.

Paper Jam Error 2

Hello,
Don't try a dozen things suggested by people online who's credentials are unknown. Go straight to the source.

I had the same issue and just went to www.samsung.com - looked up my model #, downloaded the PDF manual 86 pages and did a search for that error. It had step by step picture diagram of how to clear out the jam.

I just saved the company a few hundred on a service call to our printer sales/service vender.
