Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook

1 Answer

One more I have one more question: When the files are unzipped and in the folder "drivers", do they automatically take effect, or do I need to "add" them to my hard drive (in a specific folder) for them to start working? Thanks for all your help, Piggers

After you download the files, you have to open the folder where you saved, and then double click the file to start installation, do this for video, audio and network driver, eventuallyy do the same for more drivers for your model.

How to switch on the WIFI in IBM R52 laptop

There is no button to turn on the wireless card, when you install the wireless card driver the wireless card is automatically switched on.

The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers foryour model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true You can download thevarious drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, theywill then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install thevarious drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

We can't find the on/off radio switch on our IBM Thinkpad.

Your T21 may not have a wireless card installed. To check if a wireless card is installed click on Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager and click on Network Adapters. If you see a wireless card in this list and it has a yellow ? against it then the wireless card driver was not installed.

The T21 does not have a wireless switch, if the wireless card driver is installed then it automatically is switched on.

Create a folder in my document or on the desktop, call it drivers.Download the driver files into the newly created driver folder.
If you have Vista or XP the files should be unpacked automatically, if you have unzipping problems try downloading same file again.
If you need an unzipper try winrar, as winzip is not free anymore:
WinRAR download
