Because the bobbin is stuck, the needle hits the bobbin and breaks. To rectify this situation, please remove the bobbin. It may be stuck because of loose thread wrapped around the pin or some rusting. You can either remove the threads or clean the rust and oil the pin. And start using the sewing machine.

Hello

Needle breakage is usually caused by a damaged needle or one that is the incorrect size for the fabric. Remove and reinsert a new needle, making sure that the flat side goes toward the back of the machine. Make sure the needle size is appropriate for the fabric . Also check the attachment of the presser foot to see that the needle is not striking it.

Also check that Upper thread has run out,if the Presser foot is up or if the Bobbin winder shaft was left in winding position.

Check that the buttonhole lever was not lowered when machine was placed in buttonhole mode,Replace empty spool and thread machine.Lower the presser foot and Move bobbin winder shaft back fully to the left and Lower buttonhole lever.

The machine timing has gotten out of adjustment. Slipping of an adjustment is causing the needle and shuttle to interfere. If the shuttle around the bobbin is not rotating, something has come loose. If you open and manually rotate the works you should be able to see what is not moving that should be. It may have lost a pin from a shaft or a setscrew. Test this without the needle in place.

Youtube has some good videos for the repair of the problem. Search for "sewing machine timing"

I have a singer 1507 machine. My problem is the hand wheel is locked and will not move.

sounds like there might be a broken needle in it, might have to force the hand knob till the needle breaks out of the way. and open up the bobbin case and look for the needle if it breaks off inside. it could also be thread, which would require less force to break than a needle.

I have just been given a singer melodie 40.When I start to sew, material is stopped by bobbin? Bobbin is breaking off bits of thread underneath?

Try a brand new needle. Make sure the thread is suitable to the needle and fabric you are using. AVOID old or bargain bin threads. Spend an extra dollar or two for good thread.
All About Needles

Check that there are no loose threads stuck in the upper thread path, ie the tension disk.

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the upper thread. Verify that the thread path is correct. Mis-threading will invariably cause broken thread.

Clean out the bobbin area & feed dogs of any lint and loose threads. Check that the bobbin has been installed & threaded correctly and turning the right direction in the bobbin case.

Manually rotate the handwheel one turn until the upper thread grabs the the bobbin thread. Pull it the rest of the way to the top. When beginning to stitch, start slowly and gently hold both thread tails in your left hand until it has made a couple of stitches.

How and Why to Bring up the Bobbin Thread

If you have a manual, make sure you follow the maintenance tips. If the machine needs oiling, be sure to follow the instructions using only fresh good quality sewing machine oil. Most machines that have been given as gifts from a sewist's stash may not have been maintained regularly.

If it still does not stitch properly, take it for service. It could have a timing issue, ie the needle arrives at the bobbin at the wrong time to intercept the bobbin thread.

How to the timing on a sewing machine

all sewing machines are the same a very simple. to adjust timing so the bobbin catches the thread, just slightly loosen screw on the main needle shaft(the one that has the needle and goes up and down), move the flywheel so that bobbin point is behind needle at lowest point, tighten screw. test it out. you cannot break the sewing machine, tho you can break a few needles as you master the timing technique. dont be afraid to try. it really is easy. one summer many, many years ago, while i was in college i worked for singer in a singer store. things havent changed since then. (almost 45 years ago). good luck

I have a Singer 95-1 and the needle is hitting the bobbin, what can I do to fix this without the needle breaking?

your machine needs timed. Unfortunately, the only thing I found for you was a parts list. I did not find any service manuals for you.

Your best option is to find a sewing machine repair person. Good luck

Singer 2263 needle hitting something in bobbin area (loud thunk) and needle moves

try taking the bobbin out and putting it back in the bobbin
case if it's a top loading bobbin
if it's a side or front loading bobbin make sure the bobbin case is
inserted correctly
if the bobbin and bobbin case are inserted correctly then
it sounds like the sewing machine could have a timing
problem and needs to be checked at a sewing machine shop

I 've been using this 2639 Singer since 2006. It was working perfect until one day the bobbin case popped up away from the shuttle causing the needle to be blocked from moving. So, I removed the p

First change that needle. It's likely bent. A bent needle won't create a stitch.

Then double check your timing. It sounds like you have it ******** a bit... But that's hard to determine from a description. Before you start the timing process, make sure that your needle bar is in the correct position. (typically the upper timing mark on the needle bar is just below the lower needle bar guide when the needle is at its very lowest point) If necessary loosen the needle bar holder and make a correction. Once the needle bar is positioned correctly... then move on to the shuttle/needle timing.

Good luck!

My 534 machine jammed and bent a needle. I removed the bobbin case and put it back in but now when i have rethreaded(with a new needle) and inserted the bobbin, the top thread is not moving under the plate...

Try pulling on your top thread with the presser foot up, it should pull smoothly, now put the presser foot down and pull the thread it should barely move. Another thing to try is change your stitch pattern, straight to zig zag and back, it may reset. Other than that, without seeing it, it is hard to say.

Bobbin thread will not stitch.

Have you had the machine serviced since you purchased it? This is something that should be done at least once a year.

Take the machine to a certified Singer dealer and explain what is happening. There may or may not be something that needs to be adjusted.

Your warranty is still in effect, but is now limited. Attempting to repair it yourself or having someone who is not a Singer dealer repair it will invalidate the remaining warranty.
