Reset A1200 I've tried to us 000000, 123456, ein #s and anything that seems logical to reset my Motorola A1200. I love this phone and am not ready to give it up for the A1800 (which does not have many upgrades for the price tag). Please help. I have been loking for information on rebooting the OS. I have downloaded applications to "flash" the phone but can't get anywhere. I don't even know if "flashing" will do what I want. Please help!

I know how to do a master reset but the A1200 that I was trying to reset did not accept all the typical codes that works on most A1200. I had problems with my texting capabilities and my phone book memory. The were stalled and running in loops which then stifled other applications as well. With a lot of research I downloaded the neccessary applications and flashed my phone to comepletely remove the old OS and install a new OS. By rebooting the phone I not only stopped the stalling, I was also able to fix the textig problem that I had since I purchased the phone.

Flashing can be risky. You could turn your phone into a brick if you are not careful and patient. I don't recommend flashing a phone every time you have a problem with it but I tried everything; completely removing the battery and leaving it alone for days, master reset, I even physically took the phone apart. Nothing worked so flashing was my last resort.

What exactly do you want to reset?

There is a master reset that resets all default phone settings
except for the lifetime timer:

  • Tap the button that looks like a square cut in fours.
  • Tap "Setup"
  • Tap "Master Reset"
There is also a Master clear that erases all information you have entered (including address book and calendar entries)
and content you have downloaded (including photos and sounds) stored in your phone’s memory. After you erase the information, you can’t recover it. It clears all settings and entries you made except SIM card information, erases downloaded pictures and sound files, and resets all options except for the lifetime timer:

  • Tap the button that looks like a square cut in fours.
  • Tap "Setup"
  • Tap "Master Clear"
What is the problem that you are trying to solve with the reset?

I agree that flashing is a last resort. I'm glad that it worked out for you, though!

My phone is Locked

If you try 3 times to unlock with the wrong code, the phone will lock and only Motorola can unlock it. I do not know what lock you're talking about. If it's your unlock code they just call your provider and they will walk you through the unlocking processs. Actually either way you must call your provider. I'm waiting for the price to come down as I love the A1200.

Most default Codes for Motorola Phones are "0000 or 1234" you can try this to unlock the phone then set up your own code. If that doesnt work then just call Motorola and they can reset it for you. 1800-MOTOBLU. Or they can give you the code.

Motorola a1200 screen calibration

If the screen calibration is way off then it seems that you can't even click on the crosshair during screen calibration. However, tapping on the crosshair does seem to adjust the calibration a little in the right direction each time, it's just not obvious that anything happened. So the trick is just to keep trying - gently and repeatedly tap the same spot on the crosshair for several seconds - eventually the screen will calibrate.

You might try using Motorola Phone Tools to retrieve your contacts to your PC. You should also be able to reset the device to default settings via Motorola Phone Tools. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?query=motorola+phone+tools&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&ebaytag1=ebayreg&srchdesc=n&maxRecordsReturned=300&maxRecordsPerPage=50&SortProperty=MetaEndSort Hope that works!
