Probably because the assumption on the part of the manufacturers is that, when you turn it on, you wish to record some data, as that is its basic use. BTW, I can find no reference to a 'Fifi' make of camera - do you by any chance mean 'Fuji' ?
The IXUS 50 is called the SD400 in some parts of the world. You can download the manual and more from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_sd_series/powershot_sd400#BrochuresAndManuals
The manual will tell you what the basic functions do. Your local library probably has many books telling you why you'd want to do some of these things.
You are basically going to have to look for either junk camera or contact a Pentax desler or someone who can repair the camera. If you can find a parts camera then its is a simple matter of swapping parts. Getting a genuine replacement part may prove to be rather expensive if the part is in the system.
Genrallt a NonExpert repair on this camera would rendar it useless, The zoom motor is most likely your issue, But if you dig in the lens housing for this motor your going to expose the camera.
I would say:
1. Take it for a estimate
2. If it cost more then $40 its not worth the repair as there going to hit you up for parts.
Basically if someone is asking "how do i fix my camera" they are basically end users and end users do not fix there own camera because of the very delicate parts inside of a camera and what not.
Thanks for hearing my advice. please do not forget to rate.
Sorry, but Kodak does not sell digital camera parts (except for the wrist strap) to consumers. Your options are basically to either send the camera to Kodak for repairs or purchase a "parts" camera for somewhere like eBay and use it to repair yours.
