That is a tough question to answer on the net but my suggestion would be to have a service tech. verify that it is the compressor and not a thermostat or something else less expensive before I made up my mind.
If it is the compressor the cost of parts and labor will be almost as much as a new one so I would just buy a new one.
Maybe your luck runs better than mine but most of the time with me if I spend a lot of money to repair an older appliance within six months something else goes wrong with it. Good luck and thank you
To the best of my knowledge this model won't do anything if the defrost pan gets to full other than make a mess. I would recommend paying a service call charge to make sure the compressor is bad before I bought a new unit. I'm sorry I don't have a wiring diagram for your fridge so I can't tell you how to by-pass the thermostat to make sure it is not your problem. Thank you.

The freezer was just defrosted about a month ago. My Mom used a hair dryer plus pans of hot water to make the job go quicker. Does this unit have a kill switch if the pan gets too much water in it. Turning it off and on it makes no sound or atempt to come on.
Thank You,
David
