Question about KitchenAid Artisan Series Tilt-Head Stand Mixer

2 Answers

How to attach a icecream maker KICA0WH to KitchenAid Artisan Series KSM156 that has a cap on the beater shaft. In the manual it shows how to attach it to the mixer with spring and no spring but does not show what to do when there is a spring and a cap. It is not clear how to remove the cap which would probably solve the problem.

I'm afraid you will have to buy a new attachement which I did. The US ice cream makers don't work on all models distributed internationally/or just newer models :(

After the bowl has been frozen you attach it to the base. Then you take the part your asking about and attach it where you would put a beater or whip. The trick is to make it spin and the notched part stay in the "center of the circle". You don't use the top front of the mixer. I had to practice without the bowl and beater bar to make sure I had it right.

Thank you for that but what I mean is- I cant attach it where I put beater as there is a round cap that will not go through the Ice cream driver

A gasket type rubber ring is coming out of the assembly that the beater is attached to? it will not stay in place. where does it go? in the PLANETARY UNIT?

Get a copy of the Repair Part List for your model at Kitchenaid.com
Download a Copy of the Kitchenaid Service manual.

Somehow the O-Ring is coming off of the Vertical Center Shaft (11)
That rubber ring prevents Oil from the transmission gears dripping down
to the Planetary into your mix.

I cannot remove the mixer attachment from the mixer. It will not move, or twist to the side to release.

Use a small amount of vegetable oil to lubricate the beater shaft and
the beater. Slightly tap the beater up and sideways with a rubber mallet
until you can move the beater easily along the shaft.

One of my blades is stuck and I can't engage the release

Make sure your Beater can slip in and out of the Beater Shaft
easily. Do not force the beater onto the Shaft if the shaft is bent.
If it cannot be removed easily by hand, use a soft rubber mallet
(not a steel hammer) to slightly tap the beater so it can be moved
up and down the shaft or from side to side. Then you can easily
turn the beater left and remove it from the shaft.

From Kitchenaid Manual:
To Attach Flat Beater, Wire Whip, or Dough Hook
1. Turn speed control to OFF.
2. Unplug stand mixer or disconnect power.
3. Tilt motor head back.
4. Slip beater onto beater shaft and press upward
as far as possible.
5. Turn beater to right, hooking beater over pin on shaft.
6. Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.

To Remove Flat Beater, Wire Whip or Dough Hook
1. Turn speed control to OFF.
2. Unplug stand mixer or disconnect power.
3. Tilt motor head back.
4. Press beater upward as far as possible and turn left.
5. Pull beater from beater shaft

Having trouble removing beater from shaft... HELP

These are held on with a bayonet attachement. You need to rotate the beater to disengage from the shaft.

I would recommmend using a brass pin punch against the tang on the beater and tapping it with a SMALL hammer to rotate the beater.

Once the bayonet is disengaged, it should walk off the pin. If it doesn't you might have to use some penetrating oil like PB Blaster.

IN THE FUTURE put a light coat of mineral oil or food-safe grease on these mating parts to avoid the probllem in the future.

Black stuff wiping off beaters of kitchenaid mixer

If it's just the wire beater attachment, then it's possible it's oxidation from the metal/aluminum. Did you put it in the dishwasher? The manual says not to put the wire beater in the dishwasher. Hope that helps.

Kitchenaid stopped working Modle KSM150PSER

Hi Phyllis. Unplug the mixer, lay it down on one side and look for the pin that holds the planetary shaft in place next to (where you attach beater). The pin may have worked itself loose. If this pin is not all the way through it's opening, the shaft will not turn the planetary unit. Hopefully the pin did not come all the way out and you can tap it back in. If the pin is gone, It's in one of your cookies and hopfully you'll find it before anybody else does. Hope this helps. Ricardok45.

KitchenAid Mixer Squeaking

I would first get some canned air. Spray out the area around the Shaft. This is to make sure no harden food is up there. After that is clean spray some cooking spray "PAM"in the Shaft area. This should help. Good Luck
