Question about Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine

1 Answer

The light will not go out and water will not steam. The water heats and will make espresso. I replaced the thermostats, but that didn't help.

SOURCE: #1 Thermostats are not working properly #2 I have

Using an ohms meter check the thermostats and replace the broken one, I think it is most likely the coffee thermostat.

Steam Boiler not heating up - pumps cold water but won't the boiler never heats up, I suspect the thermostat or solenoid

Check the 2 thermal fuses on the top of the boiler, if they are blown replace them and the thermostat. While you are at it replace the seals in the steam boiler, there are 5 of them in that boiler. If the fuses aren't blown check the element for continuity, sometimes one will fail.

Lights are all on but the machine not heating so power up lights will not turn odd

Hi There is a reset button inside on the front side of the boiler (you have to take the top of the machine off. There are 4 screws and remove the water tank). It is located between 2 black wires and is a red button. Push it in and test. There is also another problem that you might have. If the brew thermostat is bad it won't heat. To test for this, push the steam switch and wait 15 seconds. Then open the steam knob and push the middle button and see if the water is warm. If it is then you need a new brew thermostat. That is the thermostat that has the red dot on the top. It sets on top of the boiler next to the steam thermostat. If you take the top off, make sure that the machine is unplugged. If none of these things work check the heating element with an ohms meter. The reading in the terminals should be from 12 to 16 ohms. If no reading the elements is bad and you have to replace the boiler.

The steam light on my Saeco Aroma does not turn on (and no steam comes out), even after the brew light turns on and I press the steam button. How can I get my steam to work?

HI
It is probably your steam thermostat that needs to be replaced. There are 2 thermostats. The Brew and steam. If one of them fail it won't heat the boiler for that mode. They are easy to replace.

Replace the thermostat for the steamvalve, it is not keeping the element on long enough or you need to descale boiler because there is not enough room for water.

Rancilio Silvia: The steam works only for about 10 seconds

Remove the top panel and check the 3 thermostat on the machine one of them is not functioning properly, find the wire to the steam switch and trace it to the thermostat.

I have a Gaggia Synchrony compact. I recently decalsified it and it stopped working. The low water light is on and nothing works except, for the water pump. It will flow only cold water through the steam...

If it leaks from the steam wand then you need to get a new steam valve assembly. For the heat you will have to open the machine it is possible that the steam boiler is damaged or that the thermostat on there is bad, use an ohmsmeter to check thermostats and element. There are 2 screws in the grinder, 2 behind the water tank and about 2 or 3 in the front behind the door.

Not heating up the water

Hi
3 things could be wrong. First is easy to check. With machine on, turn on the steam switch and after about a minut open the steam knob and push the middle switch. Check the water coming from the wand and see if its warm? If it is you need a brew thermostat. Unplug the machine. Remove the water tank. Remove the 4 screws that hold the top on and lift top off. The boiler has 2 thermostats on the top front of the boiler, and the one with the red dot is the brew thermostat and need replacing.
If that didn't fix your problem there is a reset thermostat on the front face of the boiler and has black wires going to it. There is a red button in the middle of the thermostat and needs to be pushed.
If that one didn't solve your problem you need a new heating element. You can do a continuity check on the terminals.
