SOURCE: Kenmore canister. Brush is turning but spitting

i would look to see if there is a clog. that would be the only reason that the power head would be spitting dirt in back of the power head. check the hose.

SOURCE: I caught a shoestring in the brush and now it

Hi. I think it may still need resetting. Keep pushing reset. If this does not help remove the brush the turn it on. It should start. If so, there still may be somethng in the brush bearing that is stopping it from turning. It could also be that the belt broke when you got the lace. Let me know please, hope this helps. Chris

SOURCE: on the power head, the overload protector reset

The button will not reset until it cools down and it is possible that some is jam, and that is why the reet button is poping out.

Why wont the reset button depress on riccar 8955 or turn on after trying

The reset button does not have a significant amount of movement in response to pressing to with a paper clip or ball point pen. If the vacuum does not start upon pressing the button, then either the thermal protection circuit is not why the vacuum stopped in the first place or the reason the thermal protection circuit tripped has not been cleared. Quoting from the manual

"Your Riccar vacuum cleaner comes equipped with a Manual Reset Thermal Fuse Protector. This thermal protector is designed to protect your vacuum cleaner from overheating due to a restriction in airflow (i.e. clogged hose, operating the vacuum without a bag). Should this situation occur, the thermal fuse protector will safely shut off the vacuum cleaner to avoid any potential damage. NOTE: To determine it was the thermal fuse protector that turned off your vacuum
cleaner, please refer to the vacuum cleaner's headlight. If the headlight is on while the motor is off, then the thermal fuse protector did safely shut down the motor. If both the headlight and motor are off, then there is some reason other than the thermal protector (i.e. pulled plug) your vacuum is off.
To reset the thermal fuse:
. Unplug the vacuum cleaner

  1. Check for problem - over-filled bag, clog in hose, clogged filters, etc.
  2. Correct problem
  3. Locate "tripped" fuse - the small white button located on the bottom of the back side of the main body (roughly one inch to the right of the left wheel)
  4. Using a pencil, paper clip or other pointed object, push the reset button in
  5. Plug vacuum cleaner in and resume use"

I caught a shoestring in the brush and now it won't turn. I pressed the "overload protector reset" button but it's just loose and seems to have no effect.

The sweeper attachement went "dead." What could be

more than likely the overload or reset button has been tripped within the powerhead.

Press the red button or the square button on the left side top of the unit, more than likely it is the red one, and it should start up for you again.

Good luck,
Mark

Hi, It appears that I need to reset the overload protector on the carpet attachment, but it won't reset. Any suggestions?

Not sure about this particular unit, but some have breakers that are button like. In order to re-set, they have to be pulled out then pushed back in to re-set. You should be able to hear or feel a click. Hope this helps.

BELTLESS BRUSH WILL NOT REVOLVE

I bought my parents the exact same model. Do you have the floor select switch "ON" for the brush? Did the overload protector switch trip? There is a little red button sticking out from the right hand side of the head. Check to see if it is pertruding past the cover. If so, push button in and it should reset.

Kenmore 3.9 with power-mate Model 116 2839581. Can't locate screws to allow cover removal for access to motor

You have to take off the top of the power nozzel that has the light lense. There are two pressure locks, one on each side. Use a screw driver to release. You will see the screws.Take the two screws out and on some models, there are two pressure locks on the back of the nozzel. Again use the screw driver to release. The top should come right off.Hope this helps.

Motor on our kenmore progressive agitator is not

Look for a reset button on the motor and press it in. If it clicks, then it was tripped. An excessive load on the motor can make the reset trip. Try turning the motor shaft to make sure that it is not bound up. Run the machine empty for a short time to see if it works. Good luck!
