I need to download software for my z915 kodak camera

You don't need any special software in order to use your camera.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I took out the memory card in our z915 to put the card in a reader to transfer images onto a computer. When I tried to put the card back in, it won't catch and stay in the camera.

Here's a url so you can download a guide if you need one, just google i :-

resources.kodak.com/support/pdf/en/manuals/.../Z915_xUG_GLB_en.pdf

It shows which way the card should go in, normally they push in then press again to catch.

I prefer to download to a PC using a USB cable, keeps my grubby little fingers of the card.

One way around all this frustration is to just purchase a card reader for your downloads and eliminate the camera from the process all together. A card reader can be bought as a single card reader for the type of card you have or as a multi-reader where it does several types I didn't go into a manual to look at what type reader your camera takes but lets say it's an SD type. there are computers now with card readers built into them, printers the same way. The head ache come where you have to programs coming together that are not compatible the camera Firmware and the computer Software. If you have the camera software installed all you need to do is plug the card reader into a USB port and slide the memory card into it and the computer looks at it as an external hard drive or other device. You can access the files copy and past them into a file folder created for your pictures say in "My Documents" if you are "PC" once there you can then go into the camera software and open the files you might have to "look" for them in the software and then open the folder but they will be there. I won't comment on obsolete cause anymore something that's six months old in the digital world seams to be Dinosaur Dung anymore. If the stuff still works and does the job use it. On another note Kodak is different a little more then some other digital manufactures of course they were doing these odd things even in the film days.
Cheers have fun with your downloads AND a final note don't forget to format the memory card each time you do a download and that'sll preven any more hair pulling or gray hair. ;-)
