Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Thank you, it was definitely the dryer blower/fan. When we opened it up there was a belt just laying there, it goes to the blower, there was a large nut that was just laying next to it. Judging from the parts list manual I can see that the large nut is supposed to screw into the top of the blower and the belt goes around it (it is a small belt), however I can't tell where the belt goes from there, what is supposed to make it spin around? It is a newer dryer maytag bravos model number medb850wq0. I appreciate all of your help.

My drum stopped turning. Heating element is fine. Timer is fine. Push start button is fine. I can spin the drum freely and manually. Possibly heard a large pop. Any suggestions?

If you heard a loud pop, then I would definitely say that you have a broken belt. As far as the blower not working as well, if you are having drying times that are taking longer, then you should check your vent line for blockages or build up of lint. Hope this helps!

How to replace blower belt on whirlpool cabrio dryer model wed7800xw0

first put pulley onto blower fan housing i think you have to counter clock turn to put the pulley by hand. put you one hand inside the blower housing and hold the fan then use pliers and tight the pulley. now put belt on motor pulley first then put belt on blower's pulley it is hart to put on so little belt on pulley and use other hand and turn fan from inside so blower's pulley turn and belt get to pulley. last tight the pulley again. turn fan by hand to make sure belt run ok. hope it will help you.

How do I remove broken fan

The fan is reversed threaded. Lefty tighty righty loosey. To get a stubborn blade off without harming the motor use a adjustable wrench to connect to the flat portion of motor shaft inside the dryer and place the end of the wrench to the left on the floor. Jam a Large flat file in between the blower wheel at the 3 o'clock position. Use downward force with a large hammer to knock the blower loose. If it still will not budge hit the center of the plastic till the blower pieces are removed so that you can get over to an anvil with the motor. Lay the motor shaft on the anvil and bang on the pot metal left over from the plastic till it breaks. 2 or 3 good whacks with a big ball peen hammer should do the trick. You want to keep in mind the motor does not needs to be wrangled with but you still must get the remainder of the old blade off there.

The dryer has started squeaking something awful when you use it. Can't tell where noise is specifically coming from or how to fix it.

You should have a belt that runs off the motor that work the blower that blows the hot air
Out of the unit,. blower fan might of froze or the belt that goes around the tub is worn
OR!!! The Idle pully is bad Hope One of them Helps you

Blower moter fan

Before attempting to remove blower, run the motor and note the direction of rotation. The blower wheel can be very difficult to remove. It is screwed on to the motor shaft opposite to the motor rotation such that every time the motor starts, the blower wheel gets tighter. The best way to remove, is to put an adjustable wrench on the blower wheel (from the motor side) and using another wrench or locking pliers on the side of the motor shaft where the belt goes. Rotate the motor shaft where the belt goes, in the opposite direction of normal rotation while holding the wrench on the blower wheel. It will be VERY TIGHT. If unsuccessful, the only alternative is to strike the blower wheel REALLY hard and break it off. GOOD LUCK!

If you need further assistance, let me know

How to open the dryer and replace the belt

all dryers open from the top so open the dryer door and look inside the top edge you will see two screws . remove the screws and lift the top panel . the front panel has two screws on the top one on the left and one on the right remove them both and lift up the front panel to remove it. the only way you can install the new belt is removeing the front panel because the belt goes around the drum from the front. once you remove the old belt out put the new one in . the belt goes around the drum from the front and then to the motor and idle roller . you can reach the idle roller from the front left corner or from the back of the dyer? i like to install them from the back cause its more easy. in the back of the dyer where the hose goes connected to the blower is the top with four screws remove the hose from the blower tube and remove the four screws. after you remove everything you should be able to see the dryer motor and idle rooler put the belt over the motor first then over the idle rooler .always make sure when you do this the dyer is unpluged and after your done plug it back and turn it on to make sure it runs correctly . if it runs ok put everything back together again.

Kenmore series 70 electric dryer idler pulley

I figured this one out...there are two pairs slots...the tab of the idler pulley goes in the right slot near the motor and the idler pulley goes off to the left.
