The machine has a water inlet valve that may be clogged. it has a screen in the valve make sure it is clean. you will have to turn off the cold water to the machine to check it. the valve is between the hose and the machine where the hose attaches. if it is not clogged it's a bad valve and will need to be replaced. good luck.

I have an Estate 8cycle 2speed washer that won't fill unless the temperature selector is set to Hot/Cold. Any ideas on what I need to check first?

I bet If you switch the water hose around it will fill on cold and not hot. Reason I think so is that hot fills and doesn't use the cold line. So either you got a bad cold valve or a blocked screen. Also Try to run the hoses into a bucket and see if they run well to eliminate the water source.

Washer don't get the cold water only the hot cold water won't enter and the hot enter extremelly hot

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(this covers both hot and cold but please read for cold! Your hot water supply provides the extremely hot water and is normally mixed with cold in the washer for the correct temperature.)

If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call and a check that it isn't the control PCB ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,
John C

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9549L top load washer -- hot water okay at inlet on back of unit, but won't fill tub. Is it a valve or a clogged line inside?

Most likey a bad water valve. You can replace it with just a few screws and a pair of pliers for the hose. You can test by swicting around hoses and the plugs on valve if you'd like to test it then try the machine on cold wash(it should be hot). While you switch them inspect the screens for rust and any clogging. Good Luck, Mastatech

Water will not heat up why

Check your water supply line (wall) at the hot and cold hose connections to ensure that the hot and cold hoses are installed correctly. Your washer's water temperature is only as good as the temperature entering the appliance. Is water temperature o.k. elsewhere in your home? If not, your water heater may need to be checked for proper operation.

Cold fill washing machines

If your washer is the type that all rinses are in cold water only this would make sense that in the winter months when the water is at it's coldest the clothes will feel cold after the spin cycle.
If your washer has a warm rinse cycle and when you select the warm rinse option the clothes feel cold after the spin, then maybe the hot water supply line is plugged.I recommend disconnecting the hot water hose at the back of the washer and check the screen that is at the fill valve on the washer and make sure it isn't clogged with sediment or calcium build up or any other foreign material that would keep the hot water from entering the washer. If all is well there, suspect either the water temp selector switch or the hot water fill valve. Good luck !

Ty for being here. I have a kenmore stack washer

Inside the machine you have a valve called inlet.

The inlet water valve will collect the cold and hot water lines, and open alternatively one or the other during cycle.

To access the inlet valve you need to take apart the machine, and that is not an easy task.
If you DIY remember to unplug power, there is high voltage running inside your appliance.

Below the inlet valve for your model:
