The edge 305 unit does not answer to hard and soft reset command

    What about battery ? Is it charged ?

    Did you try to plug it on PC ? Sometimes reset works better when plugged.

Here is the way to reset the Garmin edge :

Soft reset : hold mode and lap/reset buttons for 10 seconds
Hard reset : device should be powered down, hold start and mode buttons for 3 seconds then pulse press the lap/reset button.

After soft reset, you need to hold start button for up to 10 secs before it starts.

After hard reset, you will loose all your data, including profiles

Now if this does not work, you should check battery. Does the device charge when plugged on PC ?
If it does not, either battery is out of order or the contacts inside the device re broken. This may happen if device is used in continuous vibrating environment like mountain bike.

My Edge 305s GPS is not working. Everything else runs perfectly fine, it just will not acquire any satellites. I tried a soft reset. It won't let me hard reset though.

Hard reset is not very easy, so follow carefully instructions above.

Now simple advice, did you check in your parameters that the GPS transceiver is turned on ?
There is a mode with GPS off, don't ask why ...

Sorry but honestly...Since GARMIN launch the EDGE this problem is still not resolved by them. The EDGE 305 had the same problems. Just search the www and you will see. My 705 died on me after just 2...

Garmin edge 305 screen not on. went over some very rough roads and lost the screen. can hear beeps when i push some buttons but no screen. tried the soft and hard resets described by some w/o success.
Probably a bad contact inside then.

Be careful however to update the device and hard reset it once again before trying opening it.

If device under warranty please send back to Garmin, if you open oit warranty will end automatically.

My garmin 305 edge won't turn on. I had it for about 2 years.
Try soft reset first then hard reset if not solving.

My Edge 305 will come on; however, when I press mode, it goes off. also, the start button will not work.
maybe the lap/reset button is continuously pressed. As pressing both mode and lap/reset performs soft reset.
Make sure the lap is not dusty ...

Otherwise try hard reset holding mode and start then pulse on lap/reset. all data will be lost but it makes it start correctly

If soft reset did not solve, try hard reset, you'll loose all data and configuration, but this fixes most of the issues after :
device off, hold mode and start for 10seconds, then pulse on lap/reset, you should be asked to confirm loss of data.

Garmin 305 is off and wont come back on.
