You can connect it to a pc monitor and watch movies. the Roku is a standalone device and does not need a pc to work.

How to Stream iTunes Purchased Movies to Roku?

Not every iTunes movie buyer has an Apple TV at home. Some one has other choices, like Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV. Actually, Roku is better than Apple TV in some aspects. However, it's difficult to watch iTunes purchased movies via Roku. And here we want to provide some tips on how to stream iTunes movies to Roku.

Something essential:
1. TunesKit DRM Media Converter : iTunes DRM Removal for Mac Remove DRM from iTunes Rentals and Purchases...

2. Plex Media Server and Player.

Part 1. Remove DRM Protection From iTunes movies

1. Download and install TunesKit DRM Media Converter on your computer.
http://tuneskit.com/TunesKitforMac.dmg

2. Import iTunes movies to TunesKit
Click "Add Files" button or drag & drop iTunes movies to TunesKit

3. Start to remove iTunes DRM
Click "Convert" button to start removing DRM protection from iTunes movies.

Part 2. Stream iTunes movies to Roku with Plex media server.
Step 1. Install Plex server on your Mac.
Once the Plex server is installed successfully, it will detect all of the movies, television shows, and music on your Mac.

Step 2. Install Plex server on Roku 3.
First you'll need to download and install the Plex Channel on your Roku. Because it's not a default channel currently, so we have to do this manually on Roku website under your Roku account.

Step 3. Configure Plex on the Roku.
You have to configure the Plex server before steaming the videos on Mac. Then you can better watch the iTunes movies on Roku 3.

Trying to link my roku to tv to get facebook

If you haven't done so already, you first need to create a Roku account at the following link: Welcome to your Roku account
Then you will be able to enter the link code from your device at the following link:Roku Link Device , this will link your Roku device to the Roku account you've created.
After you've completed the previous steps, you may now enter the linking code given when trying to open the Facebook Roku Channel on your Roku device. Here's the link: Facebook logo
When attempting to open an unregistered channel for the first time on your Roku Device/TV, which requires a 'Code' for activation, it will show you the specific web-address needed to be opened with a browser on your computer, and your activation code to link both channel, and device.

I have a Roku 2, live in the country and am trying to play a movie. It keeps stopping a reloading. what is wrong or what can I do?

Roku is an excellent streaming media player, but is ultimately limited by the delivery rate of your ISP's (Internet Service Provider's) continuous download speeds, used for streaming over the internet. ( Check what kind of speeds you're getting...) Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and click on "Begin Test" There are a number of websites you can use to check your connection speed to see if this is the source of the issue.
Most often, a slow connection, (under 300kbps) will cause the issues you've described. The slower the connection, the bigger the problem. This is most observable on Roku channels that don't detect, or compensate for slower connections, especially at high definition streaming rates.
( 720 High-Def streams work well above 1.5Mbps download rates, and 5Mbps is recommended as good rate for 1080 viewing)
At just under 3Mbps over DSL, we're able to watch two movies at the same time, in different rooms, on Netfix, at 720. I've heard that some people are experiencing issues watching just one movie delivered with a cable modem... Not sure what's going on there?
Some Roku Channels are better than others at delivering the best possible viewing experience. Some use poor compression technologies, or only deliver a 1080 Definition image. Using the best compression technology, detecting best streaming rate, etc... are where the most successful Roku channels come in.
Netflix for instance attempts to detect the optimum streaming rates for slower speed connections, and automatically compensates by reducing image definition when needed.
You might try selecting a lower definition for your display from the settings menu on your Roku device... I've seen some improvement with loading issues, by choosing a lower definition display for your television, even though you might be using a high-def television.

Hi Larry
Have the same issue and the only fix was I gave it to my brother since I couldnt figure out what or why it had so many short falls.
If you can return it still you might want to consider something more user friendly.
Good luck

MY PROBLEM IS THAT , I NEED TO KNOW IF I CAN USE A ROKU DEVICE ON MY LAP TOP TO WATCH MOVIES?

You can use your Roku with your laptop to watch movies but the laptop will serve as the Roku's monitor. You won't be able to use the laptop's functionality. If you wish to use the laptop's internet connection to access Roku's channel, it won't be possible.

My roku will drop the program while watching a movie

Sounds to me that your Roku is losing signal to the Router or hotspot. Try setting the router at least 5 feet away from the Roku Box and the higher the router is in the house, the better signal for all devices. Wi-fi broadcast down easier than up!
