Question about Acer Aspire One AOD255-2333 Home Netbook

2 Answers

Hi, My son bought an Acer aspire KAV60 netbook just over a year ago. He took it with him when he went to college and about a month ago it stopped working. It powers on, but it says: check cable connection...PXE-E63: Error while initializing the NIC, PXE-M06: Exiting Intel PXE ROM, No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key. Can someone tell me the problem? Can I fix it myself?

Its an issue with the hard drive.
Keep hitting F2 when th ecomputer starts.
That will take u in to the setup screen.
Press F9 and enter to reset it.
Press F10 and enter to save settings.
If u are having the same issue after that u should think about replacing the hard drive.

Sounds like the computer isn't recognizing the hard-drive and is possibly opting to boot from the LAN. To test this try pressing F12 at startup. Once you arrive at a screen with a few options try booting from the Internal HDD. If this fails, it's most likely a hard drive failure.
If you have the installation discs you can buy a 2.5" SATA hard drive from Walmart, BestBuy, or and install the software yourself. If you end up carrying it to a shop it'll end up costing you anywhere from $200 to $300 to fix. But definitely fixable, for around $50 if you chose to do it yourself.

That was quite helpful but F2 is the key to get in to BIOS for Acer Aspire One D255.

Hi Themba,
You must be aware of the risks associated with performing one's own repairs/maintenance, before deciding on carrying out such actions. KAV60 is basically an AOD250. You should be able to download those drivers from the link.

Apparently the KAV60 is actually Model No AOD250
Try this link:

2. Select Aspire One from Product Line.
3. Select AOD250 from Model.
4. Select your Operating System from the O/S dropdown.
5. Download your required driver.

Sorry to hear that... Well the first option I would try is to:

Uninstall the Web cam Driver

Go to Acer's Support Site
