Question about Nikon Cameras

1 Answer

Hello, the rewind crank on my fe2 fell apart. The stem is still in but will knot open the back. It is in the up position and there is a film cartridge in the camera that apparently is not allowing me to push the crank back in.

The FE2 is still a great classic camera and many would consider having it repaired. In Canada a service and repair like that would cost about $130.00. I don't know where you are in the world but I'm sure a search locally could produce local camera repair people.

Rewind crank is loose on my Minolta XG 1 Film SLR

There is a spring in the bottom of the rewind knob that holds the crank, and it sounds like it has dislodged or the plastic rewind knob is cracked (try small amount of super glue for this). You can rewind the knob off the shaft (open the film door and put something in the rewind fork to keep the shaft from moving) and then turn the rewind knob opposite the direction of the arrow (if the arrow says turn clockwise, then turn counter clockwise). This will allow you to remove the rewind knob assembly and check it for damage, etc. Also, there is a small shaft at the end of the crank. Make sure it is not bent.

The film advance lever is stuck on my Minolta Hi-Matic C. I bought this at a thrift store today to see if it worked. The film advance lever worked fine for a while and then got stuck. Put a new battery...

Have you rewound the film? If you rewind the file completely and pull out the rewind know, it will pop the back open . . . and can remove the film cassette. While the back is still open, complete the cycle on the winding crank. The winding crank should return to "Normal" arter you complete the winding cycle. When you close the back, everything should go back to normal.

How can you rewind the film

Lift up the rewind crank. Press the film rewind button on the bottom of the camera and turn the crank clockwise. Rewind until the tension on the crank lessens, indicating that the film leader has been released from the take-up spool. Pull up on the film rewind crank and the back will open.

How do i open the back cover , and what is the rewind crank ?

You open the back by pulling upwards on the rewind crank. The rewind crank is on the top of the camera on the left (as you look through the viewfinder) in the center of the knob that sets the film speed. The crank is folded into the knob. DON'T open the back until you have rewound the film. You will have to press a button on the bottom of the camera to release the film before you can rewind.

It will be a lot easier if you can get an experienced person to show you the first time.

Don't know how to open the film door

To open the film door just pull the rewind crank upwards. Make sure that you have rewound the film first though! (press the rewind button on the bottom rear right of the baseplate, and then turn the rewind crank clockwise until you feel the film disengage from the take-up spool).

My Canon AE-1 Program will not rewind. I shot the whole roll, rewound a little, and then accidentally opened the back cover. The counter reset to S, and the rewind crank just unscrews when I try to...

I think you have already ruined the film except the frames that are rewind back to the film cartridge.
You can take the film out from the camera, push in the rewind button at the bottom, pull out the film from the film take up reel.
On the film cartridge, turn on the long tube in the middle clockwise to wind all the film back into the cartridge.
If you had the back opened briefly, do manual film rewinding in the dark room.

I cant open the camara take off the film inside

After rewinding the film, nudge the little switch between the ISO dial and the rewind crank counterclockwise and lift up on the rewind knob until it catches. Then pull up a bit more and the back should spring open.

Film rewind crank stuck in up position nikon n2000

Move it a bit (some half circle)back and forth. The slot may be in wrong position related to the roll inside. It should click in when you get the slot in right angle.

Nikon fa how do i start ? how do i get the film out i need the basics

On all of that series of Nikon SLRs, there is a small black plastic tab under the rewind handle on the left side of the camera. (as looking from the back). The tab needs to be pushed lightly and that will release the rewind shaft so you can pull up on the rewind knob to open the film door.

more info can be found here on Fixya

The FE2/FM2 are very similar in operations and function
